Shiba Inu deploys internet domain name issuance
Shiba Inu deploys internet domain name issuance The Shiba Inu development team is making important strides in moving away from the memecoin image through the implementation of a new internet domain ending in “.shib”.
This is an important step that marks the transition from a cryptocurrency existing solely in the blockchain space to penetrating the mainstream internet. According to information from the project's Telegram channel, Shiba Inu is cooperating with domain name publisher D3 to deploy the ".shib" domain name. At the same time, they will also register new products with ICANN, the organization that allocates and manages internet domain names globally. This means that Shiba Inu will become one of the first Web3 networks to own its own DNS, opening up the opportunity to connect more than 5 billion internet users to the SHIB ecosystem.
Previously, cryptocurrency domains were often only tied to wallet owners and did not work on regular internet environments such as browsers, email or mobile devices. Implementing the “.shib” domain name will help Shiba Inu build an integrated cryptocurrency ecosystem and grow across both of these environments. In addition, the SNS domain name service (SHIB Name Service) that was launched on layer-2 Shibarium in November will also be migrated to D3's infrastructure. SNS helps replace complex wallet addresses with easier-to-remember domain names, serving as a means of digital identity authentication for products built on the Shiba Inu and Shibarium blockchain platforms.
However, ICANN's approval of this plan still takes time and hopefully the Shiba Inu will receive support from this organization. If successful, this will be an important step not only for the Shiba Inu but also for the cryptocurrency ecosystem as a whole. Currently, SHIB's price has remained stable in the past 24 hours and mainly moves with the whole market. We need to wait and monitor developments in the near future to know whether this project will achieve the expected success or not.
