According to the announcement on December 28, the FSB has arrested a Russian citizen identified as carrying out terrorist plans under the direction of the Ukrainian special service. The subject admitted to "receiving instructions from Kiev" to carry out the car bombing against a Russian Defense Ministry official.
On the same day, Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) on December 28 accused Washington and London of preparing terrorist attacks on Russian military bases in Syria. The SVR statement said: "US and British special services are preparing terrorist attacks on Russian military bases in Syria."
The statement added that, for this purpose, the commanders on the ground of the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) organization "received attack drones". According to the SVR, the United States and the United Kingdom hope that the provocative actions of these two countries will cause Russia to evacuate its troops from Syria.
Earlier, in a press release on December 26, the FSB said it had "prevented a series of assassinations against senior servicemen involved in the Special Military Operation and their families conducted by Ukrainian agents." According to the agency, they have arrested four Russian citizens involved in the above plots.
One of them reportedly arrived in Moscow from Ukraine via Moldova and Georgia last month, under the guise of an expelled. Russia's security services have released video of the man's interrogation, in which he recounts how he and his wife moved to Ukraine in 2020 "in search of a better life." The suspect added that Ukrainian intelligence officers contacted them and recruited them for an assassination attempt in Russia.
