Learn your lesson
When you are done, continue learning
By now I am lucky enough to understand the basics of this space. And I owe this to a lot of people. From 2018 until this point, I used to consider that my journey was self-taught, to know what I know, I depend only on myself. I realize that is not entirely true. I was lucky enough to follow the right people, at the right time. I say at the right time because every now and then, I have the chance to see my heroes become villains (something that is very common in this space), and the villains become heroes, and only by spending some time in here, you will have the chance to witness the same. This will teach you some rough lessons, but you will learn, and you will learn fast.
Looking back, I have no other choice than to nod my head in disapproval, for my innocence and idiocy. I was too ignorant to believe who I shouldn’t, blinded by promises of bad actors masked as preachers and blockchain prophets. Nasty CEOs worrying about their own pockets and extravagant habits — no, I didn’t fall for Richard Heart’s HEX projects, because there are limits to stupidity levels — paid influencers, pretending doing God’s work, pump and dump groups, dumping on followers and hopium sellers, selling their next paid scam. So far, I had the pleasure of seeing it all and had no other choice than to learn, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
So, in a way, it would be disrespectful, almost blasphemous of me to disregard all these people who made me grow in this space. I seriously owe them a lot!
But not all is bad, there are indeed many people who share a reliable ethos and are willing to help, without expecting anything in return, because they understand the potential of this space, instead of the adrenaline of exploiting the least fortunate ones. Even though the first group of scumbags helped me read between the lines and understand that this trustless system, in actuality is a code name for “trust-less” system, the second group of people really set the basis of Web3 for me, by sharing the same principles that blockchain technology does — Transparency. This group really deserves a mention and a thank you note on my side, because thanks to them I feel passionate about this Universe, and they make me want to learn and improve by the day.
In the face of these declarations, I can no longer assume that I was self-taught but only lucky enough to follow this space’s real pioneers and knights and the tyrants and anti-heroes. And if there is a lesson to take from here is, to be careful who you mingle with. After all your net worth is your network.
I can gladly say, that through a “natural” selection process, I am glad with who I allow to teach me. I am aware that there is still time for these heroes to fall into the cycle and become villains, but since acts speak louder than words, my heroes continue fighting the villains to this day. If by any chance they decide to embrace the “dark” side, that’s not a problem, because there is a lesson to be learned, no matter what.
