Potential US presidential candidate Kamala Harris has privately said this about Bitcoin to a major Democratic donor.

David Bailey, the organizer of the Bitcoin 2024 Conference - where Mr. Trump will speak this week, has just revealed the negative stance of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris on crypto.

According to the share on X, Bailey said Kamala Harris accused "Bitcoin is money for criminals" in a private statement to a major Democratic donor. Bailey was upset:

"Sorry, but you can't destroy our industry for 4 years, pressure, recruit Gensler and Warren as supporters of these policies, and then appear to support Bitcoin. A major Democratic donor told me that Kamala Harris has privately said Bitcoin is money for criminals."

I’m sorry, but you don’t get to just screw our industry over for 4 years, push operation choke point, enlist Gensler and Warren as your Champions, and then just pretend you’re hip with Bitcoin. Major democrat donor told me Kamala says privately “Bitcoin is money for criminals”

It is possible that the crypto market is reacting negatively to the above news. As has compiled, more than $155 million has been liquidated as BTC and ETH prices both fell sharply on the morning of July 25.

After Joe Biden withdrew from the race for the White House, Kamala Harris is expected to become an alternative candidate for the presidency this year, directly confronting Trump. It is still unclear what Harris’s views on crypto are, only that neither she nor her husband hold any digital assets. Last night, Harris also refused to appear at the Bitcoin 2024 Conference.

Kamala Harris will not be speaking @TheBitcoinConf. No surprise. What can she say to us when she’s actively imprisoning developers, forcing our industry overseas, attacking PoW… it would have been a disaster for her.

All eyes on Trump now.

Crypto voters are a pretty important part of the US election in November. That’s why Harris hasn’t publicly announced this hostile stance, at least until she’s elected.

Under the Biden administration, crypto has been under constant suppression. Pressure from the SEC and Chairman Gary Gensler has suffocated many crypto companies on US soil, typically Coinbase and Ripple, which have had to consider migrating to alternative countries like the UAE.

The SEC has also listed most altcoins, including Ethereum, as securities. Until recently, the SEC has been unusually quiet, partly due to the failures of recent lawsuits. However, it is unclear how long this peaceful atmosphere will last, and what will happen if the Democrats take power.

On the other hand, the Republican candidate, former President Donald Trump, has quickly “turned the wheel,” continuously making statements in support of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. Trump also declared that he would make “all remaining BTC stay in the United States.” Mr. Trump will speak at the Bitcoin Conference, in front of about 20,000 crypto enthusiasts on July 24-25 in Nashville (Tennessee, USA).

Republican Senator Cynthia Lummis is also in attendance. According to Fox Business, this female politician is drafting a new bill, establishing Bitcoin as a legitimate financial asset.

🚨SCOOP from me and @CGasparino: Wyoming Sen. Lummis plans to announce legislation for Strategic Bitcoin Reserve at Nashville conference

The hope is that @realDonaldTrump will endorse the bill and the idea behind it at @TheBitcoinConf this weekend.https://t.co/2EhmwCfvLG— Eleanor Terrett (@EleanorTerrett) July 24, 2024

In addition, Cynthia also intends to require the Federal Reserve (Fed) to hold Bitcoin as a strategic reserve asset. Sen. Lummis hopes Trump will endorse the bill. She has hinted at this on X.
