Mars is the fourth planet of the solar system
At night, a red twinkling star appears in the sky. It is the fourth planet of the solar system, the nearest neighbor of the Earth, Mars. Is there life on Mars? People have been trying to find an answer to this question for centuries. But according to the information collected by the first space probe that passed near Mars 45 years ago, it is unlikely that there is life on this planet. Later, scientists learned more about this mysterious planet with the help of spacecraft that successfully worked on the surface of Mars. It has been proven once again that there is no life on Mars.
But according to astronomers, there was life on Mars millions of years ago. They came to this conclusion by studying the surface of the planet. On the surface of Mars, the craters of extinct volcanoes, as well as the dried deposits of rivers, seas and oceans are clearly visible. If there was ever water here, then there was life. Scientists have clarified the reason why the planet is red. The fact is that the entire surface of Mars is covered with brown-red dust. Sometimes, sandstorms erupt as a result of wind blowing dust. In 1971, there were such powerful sand storms on Mars that the surface of the planet disappeared from view.
Because of its crimson color, Mars was named after the Roman god of war. The air of Mars is completely unsuitable for breathing. It contains a lot of carbon dioxide, but no oxygen. In winter, carbon dioxide freezes and turns into dry ice. The largest mountain in the solar system is on Mars. The height of this mountain called Olympus reaches 26,000 meters.
