Co-founder of Sky Mavis had his personal wallet hacked, losing about 9.7 million dollars
Jeffrey Zirlin, co-founder of Sky Mavis and creator of the game Axie Infinity, said two of his wallets were hacked and Ronin was not affected.
Blockchain security firm PeckShield determined that a “whale wallet” was compromised with approximately 3,248 Ether, worth approximately $9.7 million, withdrawn from the Ronin bridge and transferred to cryptocurrency mixer Tornado Cash.
“The attack was limited to my personal account and had nothing to do with authentication or the operation of the Ronin chain,” Zirlin said on X. “Additionally, the leaked keys had nothing to do with Sky Mavis operations.”
Sky Mavis co-founder Aleksander Leonard Larsen also said on X that the Ronin Bridge had no problems.
Ronin, a sidechain hosting Sky Mavis' Axie Infinity blockchain game, was exploited for $625 million in March 2022. Hackers, later identified as the North Korean-backed Lazarus Group, gained unauthorized access. authorization through an email-based phishing attack.
