CALIVERSE | The First Hyper-real Metaverse.
Over the past few years we’ve been swamped with projects launching metaverses. And while being pleasantly surprised by some, I believe that @Caliverse_io will actually bring us an experience worth sitting down for.
METAVERSE: OVERVIEW
Caliverse is aiming to provide a permissionless and borderless metaverse world built using cutting-edge technology with the best in the industry. They’re going to offer entertainment performances of your favorite artists, virtual cinema, digital shopping, exhibitions, user-generated content, art performances, and more, all through a multi-device strategy.
METAVERSE: ENTERTAINMENT
Caliverse will be hosting a variety of digital events, ranging from EDM to K-Pop, where tickets will be sold as NFT passes.
For those of you still wary of the demand for these events; @tomorrowland 's Around The World has seen over 1 million visitors for their digital event. Not only has Caliverse secured Tomorrowland as a partner, they’re also working with @alokoficial (23.9M monthly listeners), @G_I_DLE (12.4M) and @NMIXX_official (4.5M) and their production quality is through the roof!
METAVERSE: VIRTUAL CINEMA
Enjoy and watch movies in Caliverse’s Virtual Cinema. While little is known about licensing deals, Caliverse did an in-house production of a 118-minute feature-length interactive VR drama. Viewers can experience a variety of storylines by deciding the actions of the main characters.
We’ve seen demand for such movies such with Black Mirror: Bandersnatch having over 94% of their viewers interact with the storyline.
METAVERSE: SHOPPING
Caliverse has been working on applications for digital shopping experiences for years and presented its first virtual fitting room at @CES Las Vegas in 2022. It allowed customers wearing a VR headset to experience products and check their appearance as if they were actually wearing them.
Working with @lottedfs_global, they’ll be bringing duty-free shopping to the metaverse.
METAVERSE: UGC
User Generated Content will be a theme in Caliverse. Players can host their own DJ sets or karaoke with friends and compete to perform on an IRL stage.
Besides being able to host parties with friends, it seems to me that Caliverse will be scouting talent through this UGC, which makes a lot of sense when we’re looking at their partners later on.
METAVERSE: EXHIBITIONS & BUILDINGS
Players will be able to host their own exhibitions, adding interactive elements and having control over extensive art direction.
Non-commercial land can be used to design your own home, showcase NFTs and invite friends, while commercial land can be used to sell products and for advertisement purposes.
Both exhibitions and buildings open up promotional and commercial opportunities for brands to get involved.
METAVERSE: MULTI-DEVICE
What’s remarkable is that Caliverse is using a multi-device strategy to deliver their metaverse. Not only will players be able to enjoy the experience on PC, they’ll be able to immerse themselves through a VR headset, on a 3D television and even play on-the-go through their mobile devices powered by cloud computing.
CALIVERSE PIONEER COLLECTIVE
Now that we’ve explored the features Caliverse will offer, let’s look at their first NFT collection. Caliverse Pioneer Collective was minted for free early January and is now sitting at a 0.22 floor.
Out of the total 10k tokens, 5k tokens were minted and it’s yet to be decided whether or not the remaining 5k tokens will be distributed.
Since CPC is Caliverse’s genesis collection, I’m imagining we see many benefits in the future when staked, including access to upcoming drops.
UPCOMING DROPS
We have two upcoming drops confirmed: land and $CALIUM. While the details and timeline are yet to be revealed, we know that land comes in the various sizes small, medium, large and extra large, commercial and non-commercial. $CALIUM will be forming the economic cornerstone of Caliverse as the core currency.
What I heard back from the team was that whenever users gain any benefits or access through Caliverse, a large allocation will be reserved for CPC stakers. So I’m assuming stakers will receive an airdrop of $CALIUM when it launches.
DELIVER ON PROMISES
As discussed in this thread so far, Caliverse makes a lot of ambitious promises on what we can expect from their metaverse. But how are they backing up their promises? Especially when their first NFT collection minted for free, meaning they didn’t raise any funds.

The Caliverse is powered by their main partner Lotte.
We’re talking about a multinational conglomerate corporation that consists of over 90 businesses employing over 60k people. Currently sitting at a $1.35B valuation, owned by the Shin Family who have a $4.5B net worth valuation and are among the wealthiest families of South Korea. It’s the fifth largest conglomerate of its country and has business units among diverse industries like hotels, retail, entertainment, publishing, hotels, IT, beverages, fast food and much more.

CALIVERSE TEAM
Caliverse was founded in 2017 by Kima Kim. He started his career as a Business Development Manager at @NCSOFT_West known for renowned MMORPGs such as Guild Wars, Aion and Lineage. He then proceeded to become the director of @SEGA Korea, where he served for over a decade.
According to their LinkedIn page, Caliverse currently employs between 51 and 200 people, making it a midsize business.
EVENTS
Caliverse has been building a presence at notable events both in South Korea and abroad over the past years, including three consecutive years of @CES Las Vegas which is the most powerful tech event in the world.
At @CES 2023 they introduced the VR version of Caliverse, and only six months later they revealed extended parts of the central city on PC, mobile and 3D Display at Metaverse Expo 2023.
Their most recent event was @kbwofficial 2023, and now they’re gearing up for @CES 2024 on Jan 9th!
PLAYTEST REVIEWS
Over the past year, Caliverse has been playtesting their working product and gathered player feedback at events. And players were surprised by the “less than a second loading-speed compared to high-quality graphics” and enthusiastic about the “virtual artist performance standing before your eyes.”
Exclusive to CPC holders, a 5-hour pre-explore happened on Jan 5th and they will see a grand opening tomorrow on Jan 9th when New Earth opens up permanently.
FINAL THOUGHTS
@Caliverse_io is a company that’s been building virtual experiences since 2017 and they have teamed up with Lotte to give us an ultra-realistic metaverse, which has been in the works for the past two years.
Tomorrow is going to be a big day as we see Caliverse at @CES 2024 Las Vegas as well as the WAVE Grand Opening of New World, but I believe that the team has all the resources and connections they need to deliver us an experience that’s worth sitting down for.
