Manchester United are prepared to smash their transfer record fee in order to sign Benfica wonderkid Joao Neves, according to a report.
The Red Devils have been linked with 19-year-old Neves for quite some time, with United sending scouts to monitor him on multiple occasions.
Reports from across Portugal claim United were keen to see Neves perform in Benfica's clash with rivals Sporting CP on Tuesday and they were impressed with what they saw.
With clear interest in the player, Record report United are willing to splash the cash on Neves. They have made his arrival a 'priority' this summer, and have allocated over €100m (£85.7m) for the midfielder.

United would also be willing to spend upwards of the £89m club-record fee they paid to Juventus for Paul Pogba in 2016.
The plan, it seems, is for United to pair Neves with Portugal teammate Bruno Fernandes in midfield. United captain Fernandes has previously shared his support for Neves, saying he is 'ready for the big jump.'
Benfica will be keen to hold out for a big fee for their youngster, and it is thought they will demand his £102.9m release clause, but it has been speculated that current loanee Alvaro Carreras could be sent over permanently to bring this sum down.
United will be keen to secure strong transfer business this summer, with new investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe already reshaping the internal structure of the club. They may look for reinforcements in midfield, with manager Erik ten Hag finding it difficult to pick regulars in this area of the pitch - Current options Casemiro and Christian Eriksen have been heavily linked with exits, leaving an open space for Neves to fill.

Barcelona's 'plan' to convince Xavi to stay on as manager revealed

Barcelona remain confident in their ability to convince head coach Xavi to stay and are devising a 'plan' to aid their efforts, according to reports in Spain.
Barca have been clear on their wishes to keep Xavi on, hoping under the right circumstances he will change his mind. Since announcing his departure, the team have been nearly unstoppable, reaching the Champions League quarter-finals and are currently boasting an 11-match unbeaten run.
Club president Joan Laporta is keen to persuade Xavi to stay, but will wait until the end of the season to learn of the coach's decision.
Mundo Deportivo state that Laporta believes if the team do well in La Liga and the Champions League, Xavi may just change his mind about leaving. Laporta is prepared to be patient with the situation as he thinks the coach could do fantastic things with the current players.

Laporta wishes to extend Xavi's contract until 2025, and potentially 2026 if things go well. They plan to make a few new signings this summer to strengthen the team and increase their chances of keeping the 44-year-old.
But Xavi seems set on his decision to leave unless something extraordinary makes him reconsider. A strong title fight and deep European run may be enough to sway him, but Barcelona will need to assure transfer funds will be available in order to consider continuing.
Xavi will not want a repeat of last summer where deals fell through because the club didn't have the requisite funds. If there is not clear evidence the club can afford to build a great team, then he will not stay, regardless of how the rest of the season plays out.
The decision will ultimately be in the hands of the Spanish boss, but Barcelona will not back down in their fight to keep their manager.

Julian Nagelsmann 'of increasing interest to Man Utd' with Erik ten Hag's future uncertain

Manchester United are interested in Julian Nagelsmann as a possible replacement for current manager Erik ten Hag, according to a report.
The Red Devils are in the midst of a rather underwhelming season which most recently saw them concede a staggering 31 shots in a 1-1 draw away at Brentford. They sit sixth in the Premier League standings and are considered outsiders to qualify for next year's Champions League, though they have a strong chance of reaching a second successive FA Cup final after being drawn with Coventry City in the semi-finals.
As a result of United's tepid campaign, Ten Hag's future has been called into question, particularly after INEOS purchased a 28% stake in the club and have taken over football operations.

The Independent report that Nagelsmann, who is currently in charge of the German national team, is 'of increasing interest' to United in case they do decide to make a change of manager. He was previously been linked with a move to Old Trafford during his time at RB Leipzig.
90min revealed earlier this week that Nagelsmann is also under consideration for the job at United's bitter rivals Liverpool, who are still searching for a successor to the departing Jurgen Klopp. However, the Reds are carrying out due diligence on his surprise sacking from Bayern Munich in March 2023 - the German giants were not impressed by confidence which bordered on arrogance.
While Nagelsmann is keen to return to club management, he is unlikely to be able to take over at any new side until mid-July due to Germany's participation at Euro 2024 on home soil. They recorded a statement win away at tournament favourites France during the March international window.
