Project Management vs Operation Management
46
What is the difference between Project Management and Operation Management ?
(1) Project :
- Work is temporary (Temporary),It has a definite beginning and end. (Temporary does not mean the duration of the project is short. )
- It produces unique results. (Unique output), for example: office buildings can be constructed with the same materials and by the same teams. However, each building project remains unique with a different location, different design, different situations, different stakeholders, and so on.
- Resources on temporary upon-need basis
Example :
Installing Production Line (look to the next photo )
(Photo show a production line on factory )
So , When and how a project ends?
- Project’s objectives have been achieved
- Or , When the project is terminated
(2) Operation :
- Work is not temporary (Ongoing and repetitive)
- It does not produce unique results. (Similar outputs)
- Permanent resources
Example :
Producing products after installation of Production line (look to next photo ) (Photo show a foods cans on production line )
