Manu Ginobili is a retired Argentine professional basketball player who played 16 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played his entire NBA career with the San Antonio Spurs, winning four NBA championships (2003, 2005, 2007, and 2014). He was also a two-time NBA All-Star (2005, 2011) and was selected to the All-NBA Third Team twice (2007, 2011).
Ginobili was born in Bahía Blanca, Argentina, on July 28, 1977. He began his professional basketball career in Argentina in 1995, playing for the Andino La Rioja team. In 1999, he was drafted by the Spurs in the second round of the NBA draft. He joined the Spurs in 2002 after playing two seasons in Italy for Kinder Bologna.
Ginobili quickly became a key player for the Spurs, coming off the bench as a sixth man. He was known for his his athleticism, creativity, and clutch play. He was a key member of the Spurs' championship teams in 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2014.
In 2008, Ginobili was named the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year. He was the first foreign-born player to win the award.Ginobili retired from the NBA in 2018. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2022.
