What Are Friends For?

Friends are the laughter in the rain,
A gentle comfort in our pain.
When clouds above are dark and grey,
They shine a light to guide our way.

They’re the whispers in the night,
That turn our fears to morning light.
When words are lost and hope seems dim,
They help us find the strength within.

Through tangled paths, where we might stray,
Friends stand beside, not far away.
Their quiet presence, a steady hand,
Is like a rock on shifting sand.

They listen when the world grows loud,
And lift us high when we're too proud.
With every stumble, rise, or fall,
They're there to answer when we call.

When life brings joy, they're first to cheer,
In sorrow’s grip, they hold us near.
No need for masks, or guarded hearts,
With friends, we show our truest parts.

Through seasons change and moments pass,
Friendship’s roots are built to last.
In autumn's chill or summer's heat,
Their love remains a steady beat.

In moments when the world seems wrong,
A friend will turn it into song.
Their laughter echoes, soft and true,
Reminding us of skies so blue.

And when we're lost in dreams or fears,
Friends are the ones who wipe our tears.
With open hearts and open hands,
They help us see and understand.

They carry burdens, share the load,
And walk with us down every road.
They stand with us, through thick and thin,
A constant source of strength within.

So what are friends for, you ask, to me?
They are the roots beneath the tree.
The ones who hold us when we bend,
Our greatest gift, from start to end.

In life's great journey, near and far,
Friends are the ones who know who we are.
Not just for now, but evermore,
That’s what, my dear, a friend is for.
