Introduction
The year 2023-2024 is indeed the year when Blockchain and Cryptocurrency are gaining popularity again, all for the right reasons.
Decentralized applications developers know this too. Which is why they are taking this opportunity to capitalize on the influx of users, whether returning old users or new users of the crypto space.
Before every decentralized apps or DApps goes mainstream, they will invite users to test out in their network, which they call them "test-nets".
And most (if not all) developers reward early contributors through incentive programs that encourages usage and traffic on their Test-net servers. Most of these programs involve airdrops to the contributors in the form of cryptocurrency tokens.
By increasing usage and traffic, developers have much more data in terms of performance, and also potential bugs which might appear so they can solve it and make the server much more efficient before releasing them to the public, which are then called "main-nets".
Here I will share some of the "test-nets" participation activities I have been doing. Some have guaranteed airdrops, others have great potential for an incentive program.
Best thing of all? They are mostly free (just require daily activities or even 1 time activity) and some involve obtaining Test-net tokens from faucets.

Over Protocol
What is Over Protocol?
According to Coin Telegraph,
Over Protocol is a new layer 1 blockchain based on a protocol named "Ethanos" that only considers active accounts valid, enabling full nodes to discard obsolete data and operate with less storage, thus allowing for reduced storage requirements.
In other words, Over Protocol is trying to reduce the requirements of running a node to a bare minimum, thus lowering the barrier of entry, increasing accessibility to create a crowd-sourced node.
The team does this by overcome 3 main obstacles:
- High Resource Requirements
- Restricted Participation
- Technical Complexity
The whole protocol currently consists of 2 main parts:
OverWallet and OverNode
Part 1: OverWallet
OverWallet is an app on the iOS and Android where almost anyone can download and start earning reward points! All you need is a referral link to participate. You can click HERE to join now!
In the OverWallet app, you can do daily check-ins, answer the daily quiz, and refer others to join to gain more rewards!
You can also stake your points to earn up to 9% APR!

And if you managed to collect above a certain number of points, you might be eligible to run a node for Over Protocol, which we will talk about in the next part.
Part 2: OverNode
As mentioned, if you fulfill a certain threshold of points, you might be eligible to run a node for OverProtocol!
But this time, instead of running it from your phone via an app, you will need a PC or Mac, and their Open Beta Testnet Season 2 is rumored to start in February 2024!
The best part about it is that OverProtocol has made it very simple to run a node for them.
Here is the comparison of their OverNode against the traditional validator:
During Season 1, users need to collect above 30,000 points in order to be eligible to run a node.
