Australia's World Cup Hopes

Australia 0-2 Japan

It's sad but it's true... Australia needed to win tonight to qualify for the World Cup happening in Qatar at the end of the year, but Japan's last minute heroics crushed us. A late brace by the substitute Kaoru Mitoma left the Socceroos clutching at straws but honestly, Japan was dominant the entire game. Clinical passing, optimal defence, patient shot-selection. GG well played.

However, there is always hope. Australia now need to go through a few hoops, including beating the 3rd placed team in the other Asian group. After they win this game, they need to also beat the 5th placed team from South America. Yikes.
