Ice: The Decentralized Future- Not For Sure
Ice released news on February 15th, announcing their decision to halt mining activities and shift their focus to the main-net launch, expected in October 2024. Ice states that this decision is made to ensure the long-term sustainability and success of the project.
Based on the above note about resetting Pre-stake, they have slashed all rewards promised to active participants who signed up for pre-staking. There is a lot of confusion, chaos, and frustration among participants. We can gain more insight by examining the Twitter posts below.
Some participants are predicting Ice token price appreciating to $/1
My experience:
I signed up, installed the app on my mobile, and mined Ice tokens for two weeks. I appreciated the app's design, performance, knowledge base, KYC process, quiz, and the timely updates they provided. However, it has been a very brief roller-coaster ride. I mined about 3000 Ice tokens, including pre-stake bonus rewards, but now I'm left with only 800 tokens after they slashed pre-staking rewards. Currently, my balance is reduced to 9 Ice tokens. (I'm unsure why; the balance history does not show any slashing penalties due to missing a tap).
I need to keep tapping the Ice button until Feb 28. At this juncture, I have to believe that this is a glitch/bug, and it will be resolved when the final balance is confirmed on Feb 28. This journey reinforces the notion that there is no easy money out there after all. Perhaps, I have gained some knowledge about crypto and decentralization technologies. Maybe I won't get too excited when I see a free crypto mining app balance or a campaign poster like the one below.
Based on the post from Ice below, only 1 million have passed, and 450K failed out of the 4 million total participants. That means 2.5 million participants are not following recent updates from Ice or no longer interested.
