Man Utd attacker on ‘shortlist’ for Euro giants ahead of ‘expected competition’ in summer window
Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood is on Atletico Madrid’s summer ‘shortlist’, according to reports.
Greenwood joined Getafe on loan on deadline day last summer after the Red Devils confirmed he was not in their plans for the 2023/24 campaign.
The 22-year-old was suspended by the Premier League club on January 30, 2022, over allegations relating to a young woman after images and videos were posted online.
He faced charges including attempted rape and assault, but the Crown Prosecution Service announced last February that the case had been discontinued.
There were reports that Manchester United were planning on reintegrating Greenwood into the first team but backlash from fans saw a U-turn from former chief executive Richard Arnold.
After it was made clear that Erik ten Hag would not be using Greenwood, the player moved to La Liga side Getafe on loan.
The young forward has impressed in Spain, scoring seven goals and making four assists in 22 appearances this term.

His fine form in La Liga has seen Greenwood – whose Old Trafford contract expires in 2025 – linked with a host of Spanish giants, including Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
A fresh report from Telegraph Sport has confirmed that the United player is on Atletico’s ‘shortlist of forwards’ they will look at ‘as potential summer targets’.

Why Sofyan Amrabat Would Solve Man United's BIGGEST Problem
There is ‘competition expected’ for the 22-year-old with ‘other La Liga rivals’ also putting Greenwood on their ‘radar’.
It is noted that Diego Simeone was eager to sign a new forward in the winter transfer window but a deal to bring in Moise Kean from Juventus ‘fell down at the medical stage’.
This means Greenwood could be the ideal alternative for the Argentine manager.
Spanish clubs have been ‘impressed’ by his performances for Getafe this season and despite other media outlets linking him with Barcelona, they are struggling financially and will probably not be able to afford him.

Man Utd man who divides opinion on course for Premier League double
Man Utd creator Bruno Fernandes
Here are the Premier League players to have created the most chances this season.
We’ve included the chances created in total as well as the per 90 in brackets to separate the ties. Thanks to Fotmob for the stats.
1) Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United): 62 (2.8)
Last year’s chance creation leader is figuring very highly again in this campaign. Has logged two assists in his last two Premier League games as he remains Manchester United’s best chance of rescuing something from this season.
2) Kieran Trippier (Newcastle United): 60 (2.9)
He really is at the heart of everything Newcastle produce going forward. Claimed his ninth assist of the season in the batsh*t 4-4 with Luton.
3) Pascal Gross (Brighton): 59 (2.9)
A quietly brilliant player who can play just about any position on the pitch. He created four chances v Wolves but none were taken.
4) Bukayo Saka (Arsenal): 58 (2.7)
Has claimed seven Premier League assists this season and is among the most creative players in the Premier League.
5) Martin Odegaard (Arsenal): 54 (2.7)
An elite playmaker who created six chances v West Ham but none were taken because Arsenal desperately need a finisher.
6) Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool): 51 (2.9)
Still only three Premier League assists this season but it’s not for want of trying; he created six chances v Manchester United alone.
7) Andreas Pereira (Fulham): 49 (2.8)
Another playmaker who would quite like his club to buy a prolific striker, thank you. Finally claimed his fifth assist of the season v Burnley.
8) Julian Alvarez (Manchester City): 48 (2.4)
A quietly brilliant player who will probably end up being a phenomenal screening midfielder at some point or something.
9) James Ward-Prowse (West Ham): 48 (2.2)
Creates chances (largely from set-pieces) but has logged only one Premier League assist since mid-November.
10) Mo Salah (Liverpool): 47 (2.4)
Came up short v Burnley with no chances created for the first time in this Premier League season. We thought he was probably knackered but he played pretty well v Newcastle.
Man Utd ‘in pole position’ for top target, Mbappe’s Real deal not done
Manchester United are leading the race for a centre-back being targeted by many of the big six, while Kylian Mbappe’s move to Real Madrid remains ‘some way off’…
UNITED LEAD RACE FOR EVERTON STAR
With Lisandro Martinez unable to stay away from the treatment room and Raphael Varane on his way – more on that in a bit – Manchester United are almost certain to be in the market for a centre-back in the summer.
It seems that Erik ten Hag and whoever else is making the decisions have concluded that Jarrad Branthwaite is the man for them. Branthwaite has been superb at the heart of Everton’s defence having made himself a regular at the start of the season following his return from a loan spell at PSV.
According to Football Insider, United ‘are in pole position’ to land the 21-year-old despite competition from a number of other top sides. Goal say Branthwaite is rated at £21.4million, which is taken from Transfermarkt. If United really want the Carlisle-born defender, they will likely have to triple that.
VARANE TO BE OFFERED MASSIVE MONEY FOR RONALDO REUNION
Varane is set to play a prominent role for United over the next two months while Martinez recovers from a knee injury. But, at the end of the season, the former France star is almost certain to leave Old Trafford when his contract expires.
It has been reported in recent days that Varane had cleared the air with Ten Hag after talks between the pair but the Daily Star is sticking with the line that the 30-year-old remains ‘disillusioned’ with life at United.
Apparently, Varane will be offered a huge deal worth £50million a year to tempt him to Saudi Arabia to be reunited with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr.
Saudi might be United’s best hope of achieving the price they want for Jadon Sancho. Football Insider says the Red Devils are hoping to bank between £40million and £50million for the winger currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund.

MBAPPE ‘SOME WAY OFF’ REAL MADRID AGREEMENT
After reports at the weekend that Kylian Mbappe had chosen Real Madrid as his next club, it seems the mega-move is not quite as certain as was suggested.
The Independent reports that Mbappe and Real are still talking terms over a contract. Which, given the France star’s expectations and what he has become used to at PSG, feels like a hefty obstacle.
The two parties ‘remain some way off’, which keeps PSG in the reckoning since a move to Madrid would mean a pay-cut, while the Parisians are offering a slight increase on his current salary.

Wright makes fresh PL title prediction as race between Liverpool, Man City and Arsenal heats up
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has made a fresh Premier League title prediction after watching the Gunners beat Liverpool on Sunday.
Goals from Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard saw Arsenal beat the Reds 3-1 to move the Gunners to within two points of Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League leaders.
Manchester City also won on Monday night against Brentford with a Phil Foden hat-trick securing a 3-1 victory and Pep Guardiola’s men are now level on points with Arsenal – but have a game in hand on both the Gunners and Liverpool.
When asked for his prediction for the Premier League’s top three in order, Arsenal legend Wright told Premier League Productions: “I am going to go Arsenal, City, Liverpool because that’s what I want, but you can’t.
“It’s silly really simply because of City, their experience, the fact that they have got everyone fit. It would be silly of me to say, as much as I want it to happen, you still have to say City probably will win the league.”
Wright’s son, Shaun Wright-Phillips also gave his tip, he added: “City, Liverpool, Arsenal.

Klopp insists nothing changes after 'not good enough' defeat to Arsenal
“I just think Liverpool are used to going toe to toe. They’ve been there, they’ve done it. Arsenal’s done it once.
“With the Champions League coming into play for Arsenal, with injuries, I don’t think they’ve got the depth to go all the way.”
Arsenal came in for criticism from Jamie Carrragher, Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville amongst others for their celebrations at the end of their win over Liverpool.
But Wright defended Arsenal and Arteta, he said in a video on X:”The negativity towards my manager man, what has he done apart from celebrating a goal and celebrating his team?
“Celebrating a team that is trying to beat these juggernauts, Liverpool and Manchester City.
“And because he’s celebrating? Because Martin Odegaard is taking a picture with Stuart the photographer? A lifelong Gunner. This man has been supporting Arsenal since he was five or something ridiculous like that.
“Just taking a picture in front of the north bank, what’s wrong with the captain doing that? It’s got nothing to do with the fact that we’ve just beaten Liverpool, that’s just an opportunity. Why is everybody trying to kill the joy? Don’t kill the joy.
“There’s so much of the season to go. As soon as Arsenal do anything they just come under a pile-on. It’s like we can’t have any joy. It’s like England at a World Cup or a Euros, as soon as England start doing well everyone is jumping on them!
“It’s the same thing that happens with Arsenal. Don’t let them spoil the joy. Keep doing what you’re doing. Whatever is going to be will be. Do not kill the joy. My manager, celebrate with passion like you do, because that’s what it’s about.
“People are expecting us to bottle it and lose these games and we’re going through it, we’re getting ourselves through, through injuries and everything, and the hatred is just so intense.
“Just leave us alone. You lot can take the p**s if it doesn’t happen like you normally do. Leave us alone in the joy.
‘Enjoy Arsenal fans! Enjoy our moments! Because that’s all this game is: moments. And we had one tonight, we beat the great Liverpool who are top of the league. Up the Gunners!”
