Polad Hashimov - Legendary General
Polad Hashimov was born on January 2, 1975 in the village of Vandam, Gabala district, and later moved to the city of Sumgait with his family. He received his secondary education first at school number 28 and then at school number 34 in the city of Sumgait. He graduated from Heydar Aliyev Higher Military School and became a professional soldier.
Major-General Polad Hashimov was heroically martyred on July 14, 2020, while preventing the attack attempt of the Armenian Armed Forces during the fierce fighting in the direction of Tovuz. On July 12, 2020, starting from noon, the units of the Armed Forces of Armenia fired artillery at the positions of the State Border Service in Tovuz region of the Azerbaijan-Armenia state border. As a result of taking retaliatory measures by units of the Azerbaijan Armed Forces, the attack attempt of the Armenian Army was prevented and the Armenian Army was pushed back. In the first hours of the fighting, 3 soldiers of the Azerbaijan Army were martyred and 4 were wounded.
On the night of June 12-13, tense moments continued in Tovuz region of Azerbaijan-Armenia state border. During the night battles with the use of artillery and mortars in the military clashes in which the Chief of Staff of the 3rd Army Corps Polad Hashimov participated, the base station, artillery installations and manpower of the Armenian Army were destroyed by the fire of the units of the Azerbaijan Armed Forces. On July 13, in the afternoon, punitive measures by the units of the Azerbaijan Armed Forces continued. As a result of punitive measures, firing positions of the Armed Forces of Armenia, more than 20 personnel, battalion headquarters and other military targets were destroyed by accurate fire of the Azerbaijani Army.
On the last night and morning of July 13-14, fierce fighting continued in Tovuz region of Azerbaijan-Armenia state border. As a result of the punitive measures taken to prevent the activities of the Armenian Armed Forces during the night battles, various purpose military vehicles, combat vehicles, reserves located in the depth of the defense and manpower belonging to the Armenian Army were destroyed.
