Twitter Accepts $44Billion Bid
There has been quite a bit of traction on this Musk/Twitter saga, and it is interesting to see it come to a conclusion.
Musk has now struck a deal with Twitter, worth $44Billion to buy the social media company. Musk's goal here with Twitter is to protect free speech. He has been very much against people having their free speech taken away from them.
The sale price was $54.20 per share, which is at a 40% premium to its previously closing price, however a long way off its all time highs. Given my previous post on Musk and his execution efficiency I expect him to turn things around at Twitter. Interestingly though, he says he doesn't really care about the economics of Twitter, he just wants it to be a platform for free speech.
Musk Effect
Dogecoin has shot up 20% since the announcement as there are rumours that the "Dogefather - Musk" will enable Dogecoin as the native currency for Twitter users. Or at least in some way add significant value/functionality for token holders. This would be another big step forward fro Crypto adoption, although the do currently accept bitcoin on the lighting network for some users.
Controversial figures like Trump who have been banned from Twitter, I assume will be allowed back on the platform. No doubt this will upset a lot of people, but America takes their freedom of speech seriously, so it makes sense to allow everyone to do so.
What is your take on this deal? Will there be any other big gainers like Dogecoin and what do you think about freedom of speech in relation to figures like Trump?
