Do you love art? Good. Maybe you should go for a career as an artist? Also good. But, would that bring you career fulfillment? That's what we are discussing today, titled What You Do vs What You Love, Which one should you go for?

The current working environment could be daunting, to say the least. People move from job to Job trying to make ends meet. It could be overwhelming and asking that you should love what you do might be too much to ask.

Many people work jobs they love. They wake up in the morning and prepare for work knowing that they will have a wonderful day working the job that they love. However, some of them come up short. Many of them are not fulfilled and end up quitting to focus on what they love.

Don't get me wrong I am not advocating for staying at a job you don't love. But if you feel you would rather go into what you love to make a living, then, by all means, go for it!  There is a kind of fulfillment that comes with doing what you love. You work as if you're having fun and time just flies by.

Some expert advice is that if you do what you love, you're already loving what you do. Well, that might be right and it does work that way sometimes. However, it might not work in reverse. That is by just loving what you do, you're already doing what you love. People would argue it doesn't always work that way.

Making extra efforts to love what you do is not the way to go. If you are at a job you do hot love and you have a skill you can share with the world or you have the opportunity to change jobs to what you love, then it is advisable to switch to what you love.

Working in a job you love also brings fulfillment and happiness. If you are happy with your job then performance is sure to increase which means productivity will also improve. Any employer would tell you that's a win-win situation for both the employer and the employee.

However, loving what you do means loving the little things on the job because they are meaningful and bring happiness. It's very easy to find fulfillment when you love what you do. You make changes that would change the world from your little corner in an office

why should you do what you love?

  • You can find fulfillment
  • You can be happy
  • You can make a change
  • You can make a difference

You could also argue that these things are also possible when you love what you do. But, choosing a side is more fun, isn't it?

The famous quote that says if you do what you love you never have to work a day in your life, explains it all. The counterargument is the quote that says the only way to do great work is to love what you do. Both sides of the argument take the cake. Oh, and it's okay if you don’t come to that conclusion and just pick a side.

Conclusion

Like the famous quote that says to be successful, the first thing to do is love what you do. It is important to love your work and like another famous quote, that says focus on being productive instead of being busy, the most important thing is to have passion for what you're doing whether you're for team love what you do, or do what you love. Being productive is the key and that can only be done when you have passion.
