Breaking free from society's chains: understanding the root causes of poor mental health...

We’re told to ‘be kind’, to accept, to find ways to cope. What about the root causes?

Are we as animals of the earth supposed to be living life this way? In this society? With these materialisms, expectations and unachievable goals?

It’s almost like it was all set up this way to keep us in a trap. If we’re not depressed we’re suffering anxiety, anxious we can’t achieve the things that make us depressed, depressed that it all causes us anxiety!!

Most people talk about what makes them happy and I think that’s because they know they can only ever feel bursts of happy as an emotion. Feeling the state of contentment in this life is just too much to ask for? Are we even supposed to be content?

According to WHO 280 million people are depressed worldwide. Of course that is just the number they know about, how many people are suffering off the radar?

Evidence shows various factors at play from social environment to our food, sleep and even weight. What hope do we have when our day to day lives are literally giving us ill mental health? All we have is a bunch of masking, coping mechanisms to over ride the darkness. How can we really get right to the root and change our lives?

Breaking out of society's mold doesn't mean abandoning it entirely, but rather questioning and redefining the values and beliefs that shape our lives. It's about recognizing that our worth is not solely determined by external achievements or material possessions. True happiness and fulfillment come from within, from nurturing our passions, embracing our uniqueness, and cultivating meaningful connections.

So, how can we break free from society's chains and find our own path to healing? Here are a few thoughts:

Self-reflection: Take the time to understand yourself on a deeper level. Reflect on your values, desires, and aspirations. What truly brings you joy and purpose? Embrace your authentic self, free from the expectations imposed by society.

Seek support: Reach out to loved ones, friends, or professionals who can provide a listening ear and guidance. Sometimes, sharing our struggles with someone who understands can alleviate the burden and help us gain new perspectives.

Embrace self-care: Prioritize your mental and emotional well-being. Engage in activities that nourish your soul, whether it's practicing mindfulness, pursuing hobbies, or simply taking time for yourself. Remember, self-care is not selfish; it's a vital part of maintaining a healthy mind.

Challenge societal norms: Question the societal constructs that contribute to feelings of inadequacy or unhappiness. Surround yourself with a supportive community that celebrates diversity, individuality, and personal growth.

Remember, breaking free from society's expectations is a journey unique to each of us. It may not be easy, but by embracing our true selves and nurturing our mental well-being, we can find the strength to overcome depression and live a more fulfilling life. Let's support one another on this path of self-discovery and empowerment. Together, we can break free and create a world that embraces authenticity, compassion, and understanding.
