FIFA Launches Blockchain Game FIFA Rivals on Polkadot's Parachain Mythos Chain
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) and blockchain game studio Mythical Games have teamed up to launch FIFA Rivals, a free-to-play soccer game on iOS and Android.

FIFA Rivals is scheduled to launch in the summer of 2025. It is a soccer game that allows players to manage their own soccer club and compete with other players.

Mythical Games CEO John Linden says FIFA Rivals could attract more than 100 million players. NFL Rivals already has more than 6 million registered players despite having a much smaller audience.
NFL Rivals is a game about the sport of football, with only about 500 million people watching the NFL playoffs last year. Meanwhile, about 5 billion people watched the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
So the developer expects FIFA Rivals to attract a much larger user base.
FIFA Rivals is built on the Mythos blockchain, which is powered by Mythical and secured by the Polkadot network. Mythos Chain is also a parachain of Polkadot.
The partnership demonstrates the growing trend of collaboration between associations, major sports organizations in the world with web3 game studios.
The aim is to leverage blockchain technology to strengthen the connection with fans and create additional revenue streams for the club.
FIFA Rivals was born under the incubation of the Mythos Foundation, established by Mythical Games in October 2022. Mythos Foundation aims to support and attract new gamers and developers to its ecosystem.
The organization is also tasked with building cross-chain infrastructure, an in-game NFT economy, supporting gamer groups, increasing the participation of traditional esports in Web3, and collaborating with traditional gaming platforms to build new policies for gamers.
One of Mythical Games' early successes was Blankos Block Party, a virtual world building and NFT collecting game. The game was later ported to Polkadot and has about 3 million monthly transactions.
Blankos Block Party is also the first NFT game to be listed on the Epic Games app store.
In addition to FIFA Rivals, which is a collaboration with FIFA, Mythical Games is working with Pudgy Penguins on a mobile game that will be released in 2025.
