MicroStrategy Continues to Buy 51,780 Bitcoins for $4.6 Billion

With the latest $4.6 billion purchase of 51,780 Bitcoins, MicroStrategy now holds a total of 331,200 BTC and has a “profit” of more than $13 billion.


After announcing the use of $2.03 billion in cash to buy 27,200 Bitcoins on November 11, the software company MicroStrategy recently announced that it has continued to use $4.6 billion to buy another 51,780 BTCs at an average price of about $88,627 per coin.


MicroStrategy’s latest Bitcoin purchases were made by selling 13.6 million issued Class A common shares on the market, with the “dumping” phase lasting six days that ended this past Sunday. The company said it still has about $15.3 billion worth of shares it can sell under the current program.

With the latest addition, billionaire Michael Saylor's company has increased its total Bitcoin holdings to 331,200, with an average purchase price of $49,874 per BTC, representing a 31.31% increase in holdings from the 252,220 BTC recorded at the end of October.

MicroStrategy's total Bitcoin portfolio is now recording a profit of more than $13.28 billion, equivalent to a return of 80.37% on a capital of $16.5 billion.


The company’s BTC Yield Index, which the company calculates as a percentage of its BTC investment, is now 41.8% in 2024, a fourfold increase from the Q2 report.


However, MicroStrategy’s total Bitcoin holdings and profits will continue to grow over the next three years, as it recently announced its “21/21 Plan,” which plans to raise $42 billion over the next three years, split between equity and fixed-income debt. The proceeds will continue to fund the company’s Bitcoin buying strategy.
