The End
“What do you want from me?” Alford asked me with his lips shaking and tears gathering in his eyes.
“That's the point, Al, I don't want anything. I just want you to leave me alone so we can live our lives separately.”
“Y-you want to break up?” I could see my words went through his heart like a stone from a catapult through a pane of glass.
“Yes!” I answered strongly, despite my pity for him.
I was doing the right thing. Pity wasn't enough for me to remain in a relationship I didn't want anymore.
“Why?” He asked me.
“Al, please, let's not do this.” I answered coldly, about to walk away.
But he caught my arm and pulled me back.
“If you want to break up with me, you should at least tell me why!” He was now crying. Tears leaked from his eyes like a broken dam.
“We just don't fit.” I said and pulled my arm away from his grasp, walking away.
