What is ZetaChain?

ZetaChain is an underlying, public blockchain that enables smart contracts and data transfer between blockchains. Aiming to solve cross-chain and multi-chain problems, ZetaChain aims to open the crypto and financial ecosystem to everyone. It is a Layer 1 blockchain platform built on Cosmos SDK and Tendermint Consensus, where users and developers can easily switch between chains thanks to Proof of Stake (PoS) technology.

What is ZETA?

ZETA is the native token of the ecosystem used to pay transaction fees for ZetaChain smart contracts and also used to secure the PoS blockchain via mounting/staking/cutting. ZETA is at the center of ZetaChain's cross-chain transfers, security, data transfer and transactions.

Decentralized and Public:

ZetaChain is a public blockchain network that is decentralized and available to users.

Hyperconnected Nodes:

Nodes on ZetaChain have observers who monitor transactions. Thanks to the TSS architecture, the network can sign and verify transactions occurring on each connected chain. These nodes provide a seamless omnichain environment for developers to build innovative and powerful applications on top of.

Omnichain Smart Contracts:

In ZetaChain, smart contracts can be deployed locally and written to the chains they are connected to, they can be read in the same way. As the only public blockchain project supporting this capability, ZetaChain ushers in a new era for application development.

Cross Chain Message Communication:

A developer can transfer data between chains and layers thanks to simple function calls. Thanks to message passing, a dApp developer can build powerful cross-chain applications by implementing several functions in their existing smart contracts.

Managed External Assets:

ZetaChain's network and dApps built on ZetaChain can manage assets and vaults of external connected chains. This allows assets on any chain to be managed like a smart contract on a single chain. This feature applies to all chains, including non-smart contract chains like Bitcoin and Dogecoin.

ZetaLabs

ZetaLabs is a platform for testing and contributing to the development of omnichain dApps and the underlying ZetaChain blockchain. Users can test, learn and contribute to the development of applications built on ZetaChain.

Road map

ZetaChain, which was introduced in December 2021, published its Whitepaper in March 2022 and announced the launch of Devnet. Announcing the launch of ZetaLabs in August 2022, the ZetaChain team announced that they have 7 realized projects and 11 planned projects waiting to be realized in the road map they published.
