Just this one

This Mother's Day, if I could choose one day to have her here, would be my choice.
This particular occasion will be more difficult than words can express.

We will complete everything on that one day, and I won't squander even a single minute.
Hour after hour, all day long, I wouldn't stop even if I felt tired.

Only the knowledge that it was my last opportunity to express my love to her.
Since she is watching from above, it must be difficult for her to see.

Although I frequently make cards for individuals, I would make her one that was really special.
Yet unlike the others, hers would stand out above the others.

Dear Mom, I adore you, I'm proud to be your daughter, it would say.
Then I would give her a deep hug and hold her for as long as I could.

In the end, she would French braid my hair, just like she usually did.
When it was finished, I would smile at her and say, "Oh mom, I love you!"

I would explain to her how anxious I am about having surgery the next day.
She would, however, promise to accompany me and hold my hand the entire trip.

When it was dark outside, I'd cry since I knew the day was almost over.
Even if she won't be here forever, I can always act like she is in my fantasies.
