Wat Suthat
Wat Suthat, full name: Wat Suthat Thepwararam is one of the 6 most famous temples in Thailand located on Bamrung Muang Avenue in Bangkok. Along with Giant Swing (also known as Sao Ching Cha (Magic Gate of Entertainment), Wat Suthat has become one of Bangkok's most attractive attractions.
The pagoda was built in 1807 by Emperor Rama I and lasted until the reign of Rama III to complete. The pagoda holds the most gilded Buddha statues and is the tallest pagoda in Bangkok. In front of the temple are Watsuthai and Sao Ching Chaa, both with narrow corridors and surrounded by gilded Buddha statues. The large and aesthetically pleasing Buddha statues of 14th-century Sukhothai impressed Rama I, causing the king to order these statues to be brought along the river to Bangkok. The main worship statue in the main hall is the oldest gilded Buddha statue (Phra Sisakayamuni) and the largest gilded Buddha statue in Thailand. The library behind the temple is considered the largest and most beautiful of its kind in Thailand. This library is 72 m high with 68 pillars surrounding it. Inside the building is a rather sharp gilded bronze statue of Buddha meditating (Phra Putatrilokachet), 8.45 m high and 5.20 m wide.
