Month in Review August 2023
Introduction
Hello BULBers, We are back for another instalment of BULB’s Month in Review!
August 2023 has been a month of research and development.
In a nutshell, we have reached a major milestone this month in terms of platform users, launched two significant features including Writer Tips and My Community Page, and are currently busy developing one of the most exciting features since BULB's inception - Article NFTs.
There’s a few things to unpack here… let’s get into it!
The BULBer Community Cracks 2,000
BULB’s Latest Leaderboard
We have just cracked 2,000 registered users who have collectively contributed over 10,000 blogs, 40,000 comments, 200,000 interactions between users, 470,000 BULBmojis generated, it's amazing to see! This is a major achievement for all, as BULB’s unique engagement model continues to encourage writers and readers to contribute meaningfully to the platform.
BULB’s activity on a per user basis is already far exceeding any of the major Web 2.0 blogging platforms such as Medium and Substack which are mostly one-way streets in terms of writer and reader interaction, comparing the quality of user activity to major Web 3.0 blogging platforms such as Steemit and Hive, our dynamic points system continues to ensure the quality of content and conversations are properly accounted and rewarded for. This level of activity and steady growth in the user base is a promising sign that the W2E and R2E model works.
Of course, there is still a lot to be done to improve the platform from all fronts, including decentralisation, tokenomics, and more.
Latest Released Features
The two major features launched in August are Writer Tips and Community Management Tool:
Writer Tips
You can now show your appreciation to your favourite BULB creators with Writer Tips! Currently, the feature only supports BULB Tokens, but we are thinking of adding a few more cryptocurrencies such as Solana and USDT in the near future.
Here’s a question to everyone: if you were to pick one cryptocurrency to add to BULB’s Writers Tip feature, which one would you choose and why?
My Community Page
You can now also view your biggest supporters from the new My Community page! Many users have been asking for a tool to better manage their community of readers and supporters.
Upcoming Features
The two main upcoming features are firstly BULB Article NFTs, and secondly, an updated My Community page. Both are expected to be launched in October 2023.
Regarding BULB Article NFTs, the feature is all about monetising the platforms most valuable commodity, BULB Points. In a nutshell, BULB Article NFTs will be created by minting your article on the Solana blockchain, in which the Article NFT holder will be the sole or fractional beneficiary of all the BULB points derived from that particular piece of content. Yes you heard it right… sole or fractional. This means an Article NFT can either have a 1-to-1 relationship (one article and one owner), or a 1-to-many relationship where there is one article and any amount of owners. This is know as a Semi-fungible Token (SFT). As an Article NFT holder, you can benefit from the engagement and traffic generated from the blog, and boost your leaderboard position as a result.
What does everyone think of this approach to Article NFTs?
Regarding My Community Page, the next iteration of this feature will allow you to select any of your followers and airdrop your Article NFTs or SFTs directly to their wallets. With the NFTs or SFTs, you as the writer can decide what you want to do with it, whether it be a “ticket” to your premium content, a sign of exclusivity or any form of membership you can imagine.
We have listened carefully and we will continue building upon this feature to also support simple token airdrops - maybe it can be an established token, maybe it can be your own token. We are open to ideas!

These writers have been consistently creating high quality and valuable content to the BULB Platform as well as being active community members from supporting other writers to suggesting new ideas. The BULB Team is grateful for your contributions!
To all BULBers, we want to start formalising the BULB Certified process. Every month, we will select up to 3 writers to become a Certified BULB Writer. There is no set criteria, but really the key is to write great content, respect the BULB’s code of conduct and keep being yourself on the platform. We would strongly suggest users aspiring to become BULB Certified Writers to take inspiration from existing Certified Users and observe what they are doing but still make it your own.
