Moderating on Bulb

Good morning/evening

Ok Bulbers, I am not against moderating at all in fact I did do a fair bit of it myself. There was a time when Bulb was plagued with airdrop posts, not that there is anything wrong with that either but some of the links would lead to fake sites asking for your seed words etc. Never share your seed should be a given, but what if there were some Bulbers that were new to crypto and clicked these links?
1 It would look bad for the Bulb platform
2 It can then harm crypto in general if your first experience is a wallet drainer.

These posts had to be stopped, people posting them were warned, then if they continued apart from being reported some accounts who did not stop were banned.

Then there were the copy paste accounts, trust me there were many and some were working in 'teams' with multiple accounts they also had to go. There was a lot of work involved here, finding the original article as 'evidence', finding out all the linked and multiple accounts again took a combined effort of a lot of people working together for a clean site. Some of these were high level accounts and we used the Bulbarians channel on Discord to share information. This worked and Bulb became a much safer cleaner site and yes we got points for our efforts but for Bulb to progress it needed to be done.

That brings me to now, Bulb is safer and cleaner so there is less moderation needed which may mean less points for moderating and technically that is a good thing.

Spam, yes there will be spam comments and I have advised people both on Discord and Bulb articles about how to not write spam comments so I was very shocked in the last week or so that @J.D had been reported for spam, an OG no less who writes and has his own website for writers! Then to my suprise, for the first time I was also reported. UUUgh the thing that annoyed me most was the 'bad actor' likelihood.

So before you hit the report button and ruin someone's day, take a look at the profile, see if they look genuine, do they engage with people and their comments on articles in general. You can learn a lot just by looking at a profile history......Yes that takes time where just tapping report spam takes no time at all.

Look at these words and think about what they mean.

Moderating is not just about gaining some points, it is about the long term stability of Bulb (no bad actors) community and fairness (try and help and advise someone if they need it) Take the time to check out if someone has genuinely posted good comments most of the time, look at their articles.
I love Bulb and think of some of the community as mentors and even friends, but more than that, there is respect for them, their work and that is what makes Bulb great.

So please think before you hit report, yes this may not have been my most genius comment but it was genuine, I really did appreciate the heads up but on reflection I could have added that this information was most appreciated.

Thankfully my issue was sorted very quickly and more to the point, my reputation is not tarnished, I may not be the best but I do try. So as always, thank you for reading and please, if you have anything to add then leave a comment ( as long as it's not just 'nice' lol because that does class as spam!).
