Advice for Those Who Are Tired of Working Hard
Do you feel that all your energy is depleted from overwork and that you are unhappy? These feelings have become so common in workplaces that people no longer remember what normal feelings are.
Even though things are moving faster now, there are ways you can regain control and feel less beleaguered. We asked these to influential people on the LinkedIn social communication network, where professional people are members.
Scott Eblin, an expert on coaching and leadership, offers the following advice on this subject: Recognizing and handling the pressure of the moment. People who only live in that moment cannot pursue their goals by looking to the future and making plans.
'Asking the question 'Is it really necessary?' Review your habits regarding the work you do regularly. Holding that meeting, writing that report, responding to that email, etc. Is it really necessary? Sometimes these are done because they become habits. 'I'd better do' type of work should be eliminated as much as possible. By getting rid of these, the time saved can be used more efficiently on more important tasks.
Prioritizing the most important work. Determine the most important tasks of that month, that week, that day and try to do them first. You should not waste time on less important things while there are more important things for both your work and your life.
Give yourself time for unconscious thinking. Making the best decisions about complex problems depends on it. Research shows that examining data and facts when making important decisions, then focusing on something else, such as going for a short walk, exercising, or doing something that will transfer control from the brain to the body, and then returning to the main topic is effective in creativity.
Set boundaries. No one should work 24/7. Set specific times when you should finish your work, spend time with your family, and not answer the phone, and make these known to those around you. If you don't value your own time, others won't at all.
