SEC may launch Spot Ethereum ETFs This Year
Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart said that when the U.S. SEC approved the Ethereum futures ETF last year, it implied that it considered ETH a commodity, indicating that the ETH spot ETF could be launched this year.

Speaking during CryptoQuant's exclusive webinar on Jan. 4, Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart noted that the SEC did not object to Ethereum's classification during the ETF registration process with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), citing the October 2023 approval of Ether futures ETFs.

The first Ether futures ETFs in the United State. were listed for trading on Oct. 2, and several investment firms, including ProShares, VanEck, Bitwise, Valkyrie, Kelly, and Volshares, have launched a total of nine funds on the Chicago Board Options Exchange.
The SEC is expected to make its final decision on the VanEck, ARK 21Shares, and Hashdex Ethereum Spot ETFs in May 2024.
