How you should take multivitamins
Unless your doctor instructs you to, avoid taking more than one multivitamin product at the same time. Combining identical vitamin products can have negative side effects or lead to vitamin overload. If your multivitamin contains potassium, stay away from using salt alternatives in your diet on a daily basis. Consult your doctor before taking a vitamin or mineral supplement if you follow a low-salt diet.
Take your multivitamins separately from milk, other dairy products, calcium supplements, and calcium-containing antacids. Your body's ability to absorb some of the multivitamin's elements may be hampered by calcium.
Use exactly as instructed on the label or as your doctor has advised.
Never take a multivitamin in excess of the suggested dosage. Unless your doctor instructs you to, avoid taking more than one multivitamin product at the same time. Combining identical vitamin products can have negative side effects or lead to vitamin overload.
