In my previous article, I outlined the reasons why we ought to eat healthily. How do you eat healthily? Here are a few ways to stay healthy:
- Drink Enough Water: Drinking enough water is very essential for your health.
Water supports health and promotes hydration without adding calories to the diet.
Many studies have shown that drinking water can help you lose weight and it may even slightly improve the number of calories you burn each day. Sugary soft and fizzy drinks are high in calories and should be avoided. They are also harmful to your teeth. Substitute these with water and also remember to drink more water in hot weather or when exercising.
- Eat lots of fruits and vegetables: Fruit and vegetables are high in nutrients (antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and fiber) and help you maintain a healthy weight by keeping you fuller for longer. At each meal and snack, fill half of your plate with veggies and fruit.
- Eat Protein Foods: Legumes, nuts, seeds, fish, eggs, poultry, and lean red meats including lower-fat milk, lower-fat yogurts, and sodium cheeses are examples of protein foods. Protein aids in the formation and maintenance of bones, muscles, and skin. Consume protein on a daily basis.
