Understanding CPU Cores and Threads in Computer Processors !
So today we will know about the most important components of the processor, Core and Thread. So let's start -
What is Core
Core is a small hardware component inside the processor. This is a physical part of any processor. Which executes or processes every command given by us. Meaning, every command or instruction given by us is processed in this Core only. The more cores a processor has, the better will be the performance of that processor.
This is an inside picture of the processor
Nowadays all processors come with multiple cores. And earlier, when Single core CPU used to come, there was a major problem in the computer, suppose you are listening to an MP3 song and at the same time you want to browse the Internet, I did not know that because being a single core, You were able to do only one task at a time, not two tasks at the same time.
In today's time, due to the presence of multiple cores inside the processor, you can do multiple tasks simultaneously. The number of cores depends on the capacity and speed of a CPU. A CPU with more cores is capable of processing larger and important computing tasks more easily.
How to know how many cores your processor has?
So to know the number of cores of the CPU installed in your system, you will have to press simple ctrl + shift + esc together. After that you will have to go to the performance section and there itself you will know what is the core and thread in your system. As you see in the image –
Logical processors means threads
Along with core, thread is also very important. What you need to know –
What is Threads
Thread is basically another part of CPU. Which remains inside the processor but it is a logical part. Whose job is to help the core in processing when it processes a lot of data. for example – performing graphics, processing databases, managing network communications, and processing data through various methods when an application runs. And for this reason it is also called the helping hand of the core.
And it is obvious that if a Core has a helping hand in winning, the performance of that Core will also be higher. So you have to see this thing while buying a processor. So you will have to see how many threads have been allocated to the core of your processor. So my processor has one thread allocated with one core. Meaning, my processor has two cores, so two threads are allocated with it. And in today's time, most of the processors have two threads allocated with one core.
Types Of CPU
The performance of any processor depends on its number of cores. Meaning, the higher the number of cores in a processor, the faster will be the performance of that processor. Therefore, according to the number of cores in the CPU, the CPU has been divided into many parts.
1.Single Core
2.Dual Core
3.Quad Core
4.Six Core
5.Octa Core
6.Multi Core
1. Single Core Processor :-
Basically there is only one core in this processor. We used to use this processor earlier. Nowadays it is almost not used.
2. Dual Core Processor :-
This processor has 2 cores. This processor is used for normal work.
3. Quad Core Processor :-
In this the number of core of the processor is 4. We use this processor at advanced level. Ex-Photo Editing, 3D rendering, etc.
4. Six Core Processor :-
Basically 6 Cores are present in this processor. This processor is used for heavy video rendering, high level game, Animation etc. Like it is meant to work.
5. Octa Core Processor :-
In this the number of core of the processor is 8. This processor is used in banks.
6. Multi-Core Processor :-
Basically, there are many cores present in this processor. We use this processor on server computers.
CONCLUSION
I hope, you know what is Core and how to know how many cores are there in your processor? After reading this blog completely, all your confusion has been cleared and you have learned a lot from this blog. But if you feel any information is missing in this blog or you have any question related to it. So please let us know by commenting below. Your suggestions mean a lot to us.
