Clone Any Voice From Google Colab.
Cloning voices with artificial intelligence is a fascinating and powerful technology, its use opens a world of possibilities that range from creative projects to its use for educational, recreational and entertainment purposes. There are many advantages and possible uses of these tools, now it is very easy to personalize your videos, podcasts or presentations with unique and original voices; learn languages, accents or pronunciations with native or reference voices; generate audiobooks, narrations or scripts with professional quality voices; experiment with different voice styles, tones, or emotions; or just have fun with your friends, family or followers with funny, original or surprising voices. The limit is in your imagination.
Unfortunately, although there are countless online artificial intelligence tools that use neural networks to generate synthetic voices from audio samples, many are paid for, making them inaccessible to a large number of users. In this article I am going to teach you how to clone a voice instantly and for free using Google Colab, so you can create your own voice clones and use them for whatever you want.
This tutorial is very easy to follow and does not require any prior knowledge of programming or artificial intelligence. You only need an internet connection, a web browser and a desire to learn and have fun. By the end of this article, you will be able to clone any voice you want and use it for whatever you can think of. We will use Google Colab, an online platform that allows you to run codes in the cloud, without having to install anything on your personal computer. In addition, it offers you free access to high-powered resources, such as GPUs and TPUs, which allow you to speed up the voice cloning process. We will also use an open source project that is available on GitHub: https://github.com/myshell-ai/OpenVoice, the largest collaboration platform for developers. Thanks to the creators of this project, we can harness the power of artificial intelligence to generate high-quality synthetic voices from a few seconds of audio of the person we want to imitate.
π WE START π
π You must first have a Google account to access Google Colab.
π Second, we will choose an open source voice cloner. For this example, open the link in the browser: https://colab.research.google.com/github/camenduru/OpenVoice-colab/blob/main/OpenVoice_colab.ipynb
π Now go to "Execution Environment" and select "Change Execution Environment Type".
π Select "T4 GPU".
π Connect (#1) and run the box (#2).
π When the execution is complete follow the link: https://xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.gradio.live (this link will be different each time you run the tool).
π A new window will open in your browser with the tool to clone voices. Now you just have to add the "Text Promt" (#3), choose the voice style (#4), upload the reference audio of type xxx.wav (#5), execute (Send) to obtain the cloned voice (#6) and that's it. Note: I forgot to add that you can also use the microphone if you want to record and clone your own voice.
Let me add two more comments that I consider very important. First of all, always remember that, in general, the voice is a feature of our identity that is protected by law, we have the right to honor, personal and family privacy and our own image. This means that no one can use our voice without our permission for purposes that could harm our reputation, privacy or public image. In addition, voice is also considered personal data, which is why it is subject to data protection regulations. According to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the express and informed consent of the person is required to collect, process or disseminate their voice. This means that someone's voice cannot be recorded, stored or shared without their knowledge and permission. However, there are some exceptions and nuances that make the legality of cloning a voice without permission not so clear. Some experts consider that the voices of professionals (singers, announcers, various personalities, etc.) are original works that deserve remuneration and a recognition, while others believe that the voices are mere instruments that do not have copyright. As you can see, the legality of cloning a voice without permission is a very delicate and controversial issue, which depends on many legal, ethical and social aspects.
Secondly I want to take this opportunity to thank all the developers who share their projects on GitHub. Thanks to your generosity and talent, we can access incredible, free tools that allow us to create wonderful things. They are true heroes of innovation and education, their contribution is invaluable for the advancement of science, technology and the benefit of society. I thank you with all my heart and encourage you to continue creating and sharing your projects with the world, without your work and collaboration, this tutorial would not be possible. π
