Crypto Windup: June 2023
Meme Coins, Project updates and a Reddit Avatar giveaway
It’s been an interesting month for crypto, with a few interesting pieces of news to write about.
Polkadot:
Firstly on Polkadot, we had a June Event, Polkadot Decoded. This event, which offered both virtual and in person ticketing options revolved around Polkadot, offering talks and discussion panels on both various parts of the project, and facets of Web 3 development. It also offered a free NFT to attendees, providing a blockchain based proof of attendance record sent straight to the attendees wallet.
We attended some events and found a great mix of talent along with quite a few promising projects on the chain across many different categories. With limited knowledge on what Polkadot had to offer, the event was a great way to be able to find out what the project had to offer.
Catly:
It’s been a month or so since we got involved in the Catly airdrop and since then things have grown substantially. The number of airdrop holders continues to grow and stage 2 of the project continues to draw closer. If you have’t heard of Catly, it’s a community focused meme coin that is seeking to go 100x. However unlike the glorious Pepe, Catly appears to have legitimate use with holders soon being able to use AI Products in exchange for Catly tokens. With organic blockchain development, NFT’s and a pre allocated amount to burn this token shows promising signs in an uncertain market. Catly is also somewhat unique in the sense that it allows for token buybacks prior to it’s official exchange launch. While you can’t cash out your airdrop any rewards you receive will be able to be sold back for USDT. If you haven’t yet claimed your Catly link you can do so hereDominica Digital Identity
Launched through Huboi the DDID is an interesting program that allows users to receive a Dominica Digital Identity, simply by engaging in KYC and completing a few additional steps. Should you choose to for the cost of 1 USDT, you can also receive a Dominica Metaverse Bound token, on the Tron Blockchain.
This digital ID is your onramp to Dominica’s Metaverse, with other additional benefit’s speculated to be given to users at a later stage. Dominica is a country famous for its “Invest to Earn” citizenship programs, allowing users to recieve a Dominican passport by investing in the local economy. While it’s unclear exactly what additional benefits are to be added to the program, it’s still a fun project to be involved with, which will also land you an NFT. Your 1 USDT token cost to receive this also goes to a good cause, with Dominica still dealing with challenges from the last large hurricane to strike the area, Hurricane Maria in 2017.
We’ll do an article soon on how to obtain your DDID via Huboi, but if you’d like to sign up in the meantime the referral link is here.Bulb
While we are relatively new entrants to the world of Bulb, it deserves a special mention due to it’s recent influx of new users and continuing airdrop of Bulb tokens that’s carried out weekly.
On the Solana Blockchain, Bulb allows creators to receive Bulb tokens for engaging in the community. While the tokens aren’t yet exchange listed, the project has a clear road map with project goals and more importantly an extremely supportive community with creators supplying many types of content to the community. If you aren’t a writer then fear not as you’ll also be rewarded for meaningful engagements with posts, collecting points for reading, commmenting and sharing posts.
You’ll need a Solana wallet with Gas to be able to join, but if you’d like to get on board you can do so via this referral linkKuCoin KYC:
Lastly in bad news for US crypto fans, the KuCoin exchange has announced that mandatory KYC must now be undertaken by all customers holding an account. This new requirement must be undertaken by the 15th of July, after which new restrictions will be in place for all accounts. We’ve included a screenshot that gives a run down of some of the relevant changes however if you’d like to read the official release you can do so here.
With KuCoin supporting many alt coins as well as helping to power create to earn sites like Publish0x depending on your privacy views this may limit the ability for smaller withdrawals. However Publish0x still offers on chain withdrawals for those who wish to avoid KYC meaning you can still use these sites without too much issues. While KYC can be a controversial topic due to the number of Data Breaches and scams it’s worth noting that KuCoin have chosen to implement these changes due to wanting to keep the exchange secure from the usual foes.Reddit Avatar and Ko-Fi:
We’ve also switched from Buymeacoffee to Ko-Fi this month as it offers far more configuration for allowing sales, followers and membership. While we are still adding the final touches, you’ll soon be able to purchase e-books, software and other useful bits to help you on your open source journey all centralized in one easy place.
Before we go, are you a Redditor who missed out on the last Avatar drop? If so then you’re in luck because today we’re giving one away.
Simply follow us on Ko-Fi (it’s free), and twitter, then send us a tweet so we know you’re in. On the 7th, we’ll use a randomizer to select a winner to receive the avatar to their polygon wallet.
In closing, we’d like to remind people that any programs or projects discussed in any post should not be considered financial advice. We encourage all particpants in any project to undertake due diligance by doing their own research in regards to both what a project and its backers have to offer. Nurture the brain as well as the wallet and remember — Not Your Keys, Not Your Crypto.
