A technology that promises many applications
We have only seen such things in various science fiction movies. But that was until recently.
It seems that in the not-too-distant future, technology will allow us to use screens that can stretch, bend and change their shape in any way.
The technology giant LG is working hard in just such a direction and just recently presented the first display with the ability to stretch by as much as 50%.
Basically, the technology is not new and is already applied to foldable mobile phones. In fact, the current prototype is an improved version of a 2022 product that could only increase its area by 20%.
The new version is far more advanced. It is 12 inches (30.4 cm) long and can be stretched to 18 inches (45.7 cm). This happens at a high resolution of 100 ppi and without loss in color quality at 10,000 stretches against all weather conditions and external influences.
What is the use of such screens?
LG's stretchable display is designed to change shape according to what you want your device to do. It doesn't just stretch, it can be twisted and folded without breaking.
In practical terms, in addition to mobile phones and tablets, such screens can have applications in a number of industries - even in the production of clothing or specialized equipment.
LG has a leading role in the development of the project, but it is being developed together with 19 other South Korean technology and research institutions
