At the 61st Annual Grammy Awards, Katy Perry performed Here You Come Again alongside Dolly Parton and Kacey Musgraves as part of a tribute to Dolly Parton. Following this, she collaborated with DJ Zedd on the song 365, released in February 2019.


In April, Perry joined a remix of Daddy Yankee's Con Calma featuring Snow. Subsequently, she released the singles Never Really Over in May, Small Talk in August, and Harleys in Hawaii in October. Never Really Over received critical acclaim.


In June 2019, Perry appeared in the music video for Taylor Swift's You Need to Calm Down. However, in July of the same year, a jury in California initially ruled that Perry's song Dark Horse had copied Flame's 2008 song Joyful Noise. This verdict was later overturned.


Following the initial decision, Perry was ordered to pay $550,000. In August, Josh Kloss, who co-starred in Perry's Teenage Dream music video, accused her of sexual misconduct. Perry initially refrained from responding, but later denied Kloss's claims.


In March 2020, Perry released the single Never Worn White and revealed in the accompanying music video that she was expecting her first child with Orlando Bloom. The lead single from her sixth album, Daisies, was released in May 2020, followed by the single Smile two months later.


Perry's sixth album, also titled Smile, was released in August 2020, receiving mixed reviews. Two days before the album's release, she gave birth to a daughter named Daisy Dove Bloom.
Perry continued to promote the album with four compilation EPs: Camp Katy, Empowered, Scorpio SZN, and Cosmic Energy.


Additionally, she released the single Not the End of the World in December 2020, accompanied by a music video in which Zooey Deschanel impersonates Perry. Perry collaborated with various artists to create remixes of "Smile" album tracks, including Tiesto's remix of Resilient featuring Aitana November 2020 and Bruno Martini's remix of Cry About It Later" featuring Luísa Sonza April 2021.


January 20, 2021 marked the day Perry took the stage, presenting Firework at the Celebrating America concert during Joe Biden's inauguration. Four months later, she unveiled a fresh single, Electric, a joint effort with Pokémon to celebrate its 25th anniversary.


Perry commenced her hosting duties at Resorts World Las Vegas with the Play concert residency on December 29, 2021. The concept for the show sprouted during the COVID-19 lockdowns, drawing inspiration from Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Pee-wee's Playhouse, and Pee-wee's Big Adventure.


Perry characterized it as a larger than life and the quirkiest, most camp show I've ever put together." Critics lauded the show, with Billboard's Melinda Sheckells describing Play's sold-out opening night as part fantasy, part hallucination, and thoroughly camp. Reports from the Santa Barbara Independent revealed Perry's residency deal amounted to a staggering $168 million, concluding on November 4, 2023.


September 2021 saw Perry being honored in Variety's Power of Women issue, where she delved into her career, motherhood, and philanthropy. As a nominee, she graced the Variety 2021 Power of Women dinner. On her 37th birthday the subsequent month, Perry assumed the role of guest host on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and starred in a holiday ad for Gap Inc., performing All You Need Is Love by the Beatles.


Perry later released a full version of her cover on streaming platforms the same day. Two months after, she collaborated with Swedish DJ Alesso on When I'm Gone, making her the third artist to top Croatia's ARC 100 list across three different decades. In January 2022, Perry, alongside Morgan McLachlan, founded De Soi, a company specializing in non-alcoholic apéritifs.


Teaming up with Thomas Rhett, Perry crafted a country-pop duet named Where We Started for his eponymous album. She also joined the musical journey of Jeremy Zag's animated film, Melody, lending her voice to the title character. Perry became the face of advertisements for Just Eat, SkipTheDishes, Lieferando, and Menulog, while also remixing their jingle. On June 8, 2022, Perry received the Key to Las Vegas, commemorating Katy Perry Day.


Collaborating with tech giant Apple Inc., Perry starred in ads for GarageBand music software, inviting users to create Remix Sessions featuring her song Harleys in Hawaii. In August 2022, Perry expressed excitement for the various evolutions of the song through the Apple collaboration. She graced the Coronation Concert of Charles III at Windsor Castle in May.


Come September 2023, Perry made headlines by selling her music rights to Litmus Music for a staggering $225 million. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! the following February, Perry declared her departure from American Idol after the twenty-second season, eager to go out and feel that pulse to my own beat" and release new music, having been in the studio for a while.


Angela, Perry's sister, stands out as the woman who exerted the most significant influence on her journey, according to Perry herself. In the early phases of her career, Perry's musical inclinations leaned towards gospel, fueled by the aspiration to achieve success akin to Amy Grant's.

Describing Pet Sounds as one of her favorite records, she attributes the album's influence to the core of her songwriting choices. The Beatles' album, The Beatles, also holds a special place in Perry's musical palette, being the exclusive soundtracks that echoed in her ears for a solid two-year stretch.


Alanis Morissette's 1995 album, Jagged Little Pill, occupies a significant space in Perry's musical constellation. She hailed it as the epitome of a perfect female record, expressing that every song on the album resonates with her, standing the test of time. Perry further draws inspiration from Patty Griffin's Flaming Red and Jonatha Brooke's 10 Cent Wings.


In the realm of visual expression, Perry's autobiographical documentary, Katy Perry: Part of Me, draws inspiration from Madonna: Truth or Dare. The documentary is a testament to Perry's admiration for Madonna's ability to reinvent herself, with Perry expressing her desire to evolve similarly, stating, I want to evolve like Madonna.
