İsa, Öldükten Sonra Ölüler Diyarına mı İndi? ( Jesus after his death )

‘‘Yusuf keten bez satın aldı, cesedi çarmıhtan indirip beze sardı, kayaya oyulmuş bir mezara yatırarak mezarın girişine bir taş yuvarladı’’ (Mar. 15:46).
İsa’nın öldüğünü hepimiz biliyoruz. Luka 23:46, ‘‘İsa yüksek sesle, ‘‘Baba, ruhumu ellerine bırakıyorum!’’ diye seslendi. Bunu söyledikten sonra son nefesini verdi’’ der. Ölümünden sonra ne oldu? Bedeninin mezara konulduğunu biliyoruz, peki ruhu nereye gitmişti? Bu soru üzerinde düşünmek, sadece Kutsal Kitap’ın ölüm ve ölümden sonraki yaşam hakkındaki öğretisine ışık tutmakla kalmaz, aynı zamanda ölümle cesaretle yüzleşebilmemize yardım eder.

“Joseph bought a linen cloth, took the body down from the cross, wrapped it in the cloth, laid it in a tomb hewn out of the rock, and rolled a stone over the entrance of the tomb” (Mark 15:46).

We all know that Jesus died. Luke 23:46, “Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” "After saying this, he breathed his last," he says. What happened after his death? We know that his body was placed in the grave, but where did his soul go? Considering this question not only sheds light on the Bible's teaching about death and the afterlife, but also helps us face death with courage.

Ölüm Nedir?

Öncelikle, ölüm tam olarak nedir? Ölüm ayrılıktır, birlikte olması gereken şeylerin ayrılmasıdır. Temel olarak, Tanrı’dan ayrılmaktır. Pavlus, Efesliler 2:1-2’de şöyle der: ‘‘Sizler bir zamanlar içinde yaşadığınız suçlardan ve günahlardan ötürü ölüydünüz. Bu dünyanın gidişine ve havadaki hükümranlığın egemenine, yani söz dinlemeyen insanlarda şimdi etkin olan ruha uymaktaydınız.’’

Günahta yürümek, ‘ölü olmak, karanlığın kölesi olmak, Tanrı’dan ayrı kalmak ve gazabının çocukları olmak’ demektir. Bu tür bir ayrılık, yaşayan Tanrı’ya yabancılaşmaktır. Hepimiz günahlı doğamız gereği ölü doğarız. İsa’nın çarmıhta çektiği acının nedeni budur. Ölüm, aynı zamanda ruhun bedenden ayrılışına işaret eder. Tanrı, bedeni ve ruhu yarattı. Ölüm ise bu birliği parçalar. Peki, ölümün ardından bedene ve ruha ne olur? Kutsal Kitap bu konuda bize bir bakış açısı sağlar. ‘‘Çünkü sen beni ölüler diyarına terk etmezsin, sadık kulunun çürümesine izin vermezsin’’ (Mez.16:10).

Mezmur 16:10’u okuduğumuzda ruhun ölüler diyarına (Şeol) gittiğini, bedenin ise çürümeye mahkum olduğunu anlarız. Elçilerin İşleri 2:29–31’de Petrus, İsa’nın ölüler diyarına terk edilmediğini ve bedeninin çürümediğini söyler. Ruhun ölüler diyarına gittiği ve bedenin çürüdüğü çoğu kişi tarafından kabul edilir bir durumdu. Ancak İsa’nın yaşadıkları şaşırtıcı bir mucizeydi.

What is Death?

First of all, what exactly is death? Death is separation, the separation of things that should be together. Essentially, it is separation from God. Paul says in Ephesians 2:1-2: “You were once dead in trespasses and sins in which you lived. "You were following the course of this world and the ruler of the sovereignty of the air, the spirit that is now at work in disobedient people."



To walk in sin means to be 'dead, enslaved to darkness, separated from God, and children of his wrath.' Such separation is alienation from the living God. We are all born still due to our sinful nature. This is the reason for Jesus' suffering on the cross. Death also indicates the departure of the soul from the body. God created body and soul. Death shatters this unity. So, what happens to the body and soul after death? The Bible gives us perspective on this matter. “For you will not abandon me to Sheol, nor will you allow your faithful servant to decay” (Ps. 16:10).



When we read Psalm 16:10, we understand that the soul goes to the land of the dead (Sheol) and the body is doomed to decay. In Acts 2:29–31, Peter says that Jesus was not abandoned in Sheol and that his body did not decay. It was accepted by most people that the soul went to the land of the dead and the body decayed. However, what Jesus experienced was an astonishing miracle.

Ölüler Diyarı

Eski Antlaşma’da doğru kişilerin (Yar. 37:35, 1.Sa. 28:13-14) ve kötülerin (Mez.31:17) ruhunun ölüler diyarına gittiği açıklanır. ‘Hades’ (Ölüler Diyarı) kelimesi ise, Grekçe Kutsal Yazıların çevirilerinde geçer ve Yunan mitolojisindeki Hades ile bazı benzerlikler taşır.
Ölüler diyarı, yerin altındadır (Say. 16:30–33), kapıları (Yşa. 38:10) olan bir kent gibidir. Karanlık diyarıdır (Yşa. 14:9; 26:14). Çalışmanın ve bilgeliğin olmadığı (Va. 9:10) unutulmuşluk diyarıdır (Mez.88:12) En önemlisi Tanrı’nın anılmadığı ve yüceltilmediği bir yerdir (Mez. 6:5; 88:10-11; 115:17; Yşa. 38:18).

Yeni Antlaşma’da ise ölüler diyarıyla ilgili en geniş tasvir Luka 16:19-31’de yer almaktadır. Bu bölümde ölüler diyarının iki farklı yeri olduğunu görüyoruz. Zengin adamın gönderildiği ıstırap yeri ve Lazar’ın gönderildiği teselli yeridir. İki yer birbirinden adeta bir uçurumla ayrılır (Luk. 16:26). Buna göre tüm ruhlar ölüler diyarına iner. Ancak bazılarının teselli bulduğu, bazılarının ise gazaba uğradığı iki bölüm vardır. İsa’dan önce ölen doğru kişiler, İbrahim’le birlikte ölüler diyarında yaşadı ve teselli buldu.

Realm of the Dead

The Old Testament explains that the souls of the righteous (Gen. 37:35, 1 Sam. 28:13-14) and the wicked (Ps. 31:17) go to the realm of the dead. The word 'Hades' (Land of the Dead) appears in translations of the Greek Holy Scriptures and bears some similarities with Hades in Greek mythology.

Sheol is underground (Num. 16:30–33), like a city with gates (Isa. 38:10). It is the land of darkness (Isa. 14:9; 26:14). It is a land of oblivion (Ps. 88:12), where there is no work or wisdom (Rev. 9:10). Most importantly, it is a place where God is neither remembered nor glorified (Ps. 6:5; 88:10-11; 115:17; Isa. 38). :18).



In the New Testament, the most comprehensive description of the land of the dead is found in Luke 16:19-31. In this episode, we see that the land of the dead has two different places. It is the place of suffering to which the rich man was sent, and the place of comfort to which Lazarus was sent. The two places are separated from each other by a cliff (Luk. 16:26). Accordingly, all souls descend to the land of the dead. However, there are two parts where some find solace and some feel wrath. The righteous who died before Jesus lived and found solace with Abraham in Sheol.

İsa Öldüğünde Nereye Gitti?

İsa ona, ‘‘Sana doğrusunu söyleyeyim, sen bugün benimle birlikte cennette olacaksın’’ dedi (Luk.23:43)
Bazı Hristiyanlar, İsa’nın çarmıhta suçluya söylediği sözlere dayanarak, Ruhu’nun Baba’nın huzurunda olmak üzere cennete gittiğine inanır. Aslında İsa, suçlunun cennette olacağını söylemektedir. Görünüşe göre tövbe eden suçlu, İsa’nın cennet dediği yerde İbrahim’in yanında teselli bulacak.

Kutsal Yazılara baktığımızda İsa, ölümünün ardından ölüler diyarına iner ve iman edenleri ölümün gücünden çarmıhtaki fidyesiyle kurtarır (Mez. 49:15; 86:13; 89:48). Öyle ki, ‘‘İmanları sayesinde bunların hepsi Tanrı’nın beğenisini kazandıkları halde, hiçbiri vaat edilene kavuşmadı. Bizden ayrı olarak yetkinliğe ermesinler diye, Tanrı bizim için daha iyi bir şey hazırlamıştı’’ (İbr.11:39-40)
Kilise çağında ölen doğru kişiler, sadece melekler tarafından İbrahim’in koynuna taşınmıyor; Mesih ile birlikte olma ayrıcalığına erişiyor (Flp.1:23). Kötüler ise, yargılanacakları ve ardından nihai yargıya dek ateş gölüne atılacakları ölüler diyarında kalır (Va. 20:13-15).

Where Did Jesus Go When He Died?

Jesus said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43).

Some Christians believe, based on Jesus' words to the criminal on the cross, that his Spirit goes to heaven to be in the presence of the Father. In fact, Jesus says that the criminal will be in heaven. It seems that the repentant criminal will find solace with Abraham in the place Jesus calls heaven.



When we look at the Holy Scriptures, Jesus descends to the realm of the dead after his death and saves believers from the power of death with his ransom on the cross (Ps. 49:15; 86:13; 89:48). So much so that, “Although all of them gained God's approval through their faith, none of them received what was promised. “God had prepared something better for us, so that they might not be perfected apart from us.” (Hebrews 11:39-40)

In the church age, the righteous who died were not merely carried into Abraham's bosom by angels; He has the privilege of being with Christ (Phil. 1:23). The wicked remain in Sheol, where they will be judged and then thrown into the lake of fire until the final judgment (Rev. 20:13-15).

Müjdeli Haber

İsa Mesih’in ölüler diyarına inmesi, gerçekten de her yönden bizler gibi olduğunu gösteriyor. Bizim adımıza sadece Tanrı’nın gazabını taşımakla kalmadı; ölümüyle beraber ölüler diyarına inmeye razı oldu. Bedeni Yusuf’un mezarındaydı (Luk. 23:50-53), ruhu ise üç gün boyunca ölüler diyarında kaldı (Mat.12:40). Mezmur 16:10’da açıkça belirtildiği gibi, İsa’nın bedeni bizler gibi gömüldü ancak çürümedi. Ruhu ise ölüler diyarına indi ancak terk edilmedi. Tanrı, Oğlu’nu ölümden diriltti ve ruhunu yüceltilmiş bir bedenle yeniden birleştirdi. Bu, iman eden bizler için müjdeli bir haberdir. Çünkü artık Mesih’e ait olanlar ölüler diyarında unutulmayacaktır. Bunun yerine meleklerle beraber ilahiler söyleyerek O’nu yücelteceğiz.

İsa Mesih dirildi, O gerçekten dirildi!

Good news

Jesus Christ's descent into the realm of the dead shows that he is truly like us in every way. He not only bore God's wrath on our behalf; He agreed to descend to the land of the dead upon his death. His body was in Joseph's tomb (Luke 23:50-53), and his soul remained in Sheol for three days (Matt. 12:40). As Psalm 16:10 makes clear, Jesus' body was buried like ours, but it did not decay. His soul descended to the land of the dead, but was not abandoned. God raised his Son from the dead and reunited his soul with a glorified body. This is good news for us who believe. For those who belong to Christ will no longer be forgotten in the grave. Instead, we will praise Him by singing hymns with the angels.

Jesus Christ is risen, He is truly risen!
