The European Union (EU) is investigating artificial intelligence partnerships between Microsoft and OpenAI and Google and Samsung.

Margrethe Vestager, EU Commissioner for Competition, made evaluations on the steps they will take in the field of artificial intelligence at a program held in Brussels.

Vestager stated that follow-up questions will be sent to Microsoft and OpenAI under EU competition rules to understand whether certain "exclusivity clauses" will have a negative impact on competitors.

Stating that they also want to better understand the effects of Google's agreement with Samsung regarding the pre-installation of Gemini on certain Samsung devices, Vestager said that they see the risk of large technology companies making it difficult for smaller model developers to reach end users.

"ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE HAS DEVELOPED VERY FAST"

Vestager reminded that artificial intelligence has developed very rapidly in the recent period and explained that strict scrutiny of this field and various applications in the market will continue.

Stating that strict competition rules and practices are needed in times of significant industrial and technological changes, Vestager emphasized that action should be taken quickly in the field of artificial intelligence.
