Pre-order for HP Solana Saga Chapter 2 Begins, Priced at IDR 7 Million
Solana Labs launched the pre-order for the Saga Chapter 2 smartphone on Tuesday (1/16/24), one month after the Solana Saga smartphone sold out, thanks to the airdrop value provided to users.
Solana Labs Unveils Saga Chapter 2 Smartphone
Saga Chapter 2 is the successor to the Saga smartphone, offering more affordability with similar core features built around the Solana ecosystem.
The Saga Chapter 2 smartphone is set to be released in 2025 with a pre-order price of US$450 or approximately IDR 7 million, making it a more affordable option compared to its predecessor.
The pre-order price is only available for a limited time and will be counted as a non-refundable deposit for founders committed to developing the phone well before its release.
However, the official website indicates that insufficient demand may lead to project cancellation and refunds. "If the pre-order target is not reached, we may decide not to proceed. In that case, we will refund your deposit," writes the Solana Mobile site.
Solana Labs has not disclosed the hardware specifications of the Saga Chapter 2 smartphone or provided an overview of the actual product, but the lower price suggests simpler specifications than the previous version.
Similar to the first Saga, Saga Chapter 2 is designed as a crypto smartphone built for the Solana ecosystem, offering a native wallet solution with security features and access to decentralized applications built on the blockchain.
As with the first Saga product, some crypto communities speculate that Saga Chapter 2 will generate a significant airdrop. In the first Saga version, the airdrop value received by users exceeded the smartphone's purchase price.
Indodax Chief Technology Officer William Sutanto, through a post on the X account, stated that he has pre-ordered this phone. William also mentioned that "the arrival of a native web3 phone could be one of the solutions to help the adoption of web3."
