AI Continues To Dominate
AI continues to reign as it seeks to form amalgamations with existing industries and sectors within the Crypto space. AI agents have been the talk for some time. However, AI agents are now overseeing and managing crypto portfolios, providing a level of automation that is set to reshape DeFi and crypto investment practices forever. CoinGecko recently added the DeFAI sector to its list of categories, making it easy for investors to monitor the projects making waves within its exclusive niche.
The sector currently has a market capitalization of less than a billion dollars and is expected to reach 25 to 50 billion dollars in 2025. This prediction might be somewhat conservative, in my opinion. However, time will tell. DeFAI is still very immature regarding its development and the establishment of industry leaders. You might have heard of GRIFFAIN and ANON, the two projects leading the charge. Several projects have yet to launch a token, and two of them have secured the backing of Binance Launchpad.
This sector is primed to produce a few moonshots in the coming months. A basic understanding of DeFi practices remains a requirement. Projects that can improve and simplify the user experience are likely the future winners. Initially, these altcoins could be rather volatile especially since the entire market cap is below a billion dollars.
The Essence Of DeFi
DeFi was born as a tool of optimization, providing avenues of yield and enabling idle assets to become profitable. This birthed yield farming in the DeFi Summer of 2020. I was one of the early DeFi participants in 2019 before the birthing of the term DeFi. I immediately recognized it as a monumental shift that would forever adjust the trajectory of income generation within the Crypto space. This would also pave the way for the legitimization of altcoins.
I experienced a similar realization regarding DePIN and its amazing passive income opportunities. Now we have, DeFAI. What is the common thread in both narratives? Yes, both models feed on and monetize data. I have been discussing the age of intelligence for years, and we are moving deeper into this new reality. Data is a new form of currency, something I have discussed at length in recent months and even years.
The future is now and AI agents overseeing DeFi protocols and strategies indicate how fast we are hurtling toward a precipice of no return. That’s right, no return. Many Crypto enthusiasts promote the idea of privacy and data ownership. However, such a mindset is counterintuitive to the economic future unfolding. Private data has already been compromised by having a social media or Netflix account.
Data privacy is an illusion and if you think it’s difficult to protect it now, wait until the age of intelligence is in full swing, driven by the undergirding of a data-driven economy and value system. Stubborn persistence regarding the preservation of data privacy is a self-imposed exclusion from the future economy. At least with decentralization and WEB3 data can become profitable for the average man on the street.

Investing is about seeing the future and then positioning oneself accordingly. It’s that simple. Understanding the times you are living in and extrapolating it into the future, provides a better perspective. Being stubborn and indifferent is a sure way to rob yourself of the unparalleled opportunities birthed through this technological and economic shift.
