What Do You Want to Hear on Crypto Podcasts?
In recent years, podcasts covering the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry have gained popularity as a convenient and engaging medium accessible to arguably any industry participant. This however I’d argue has been anything but a successful venture on a grand scale. I genuinely am unable to find a specific program worth subscribing to updates for - let alone listen to a full episode of those available without being bored to absolute tears.
It’s not for lack of understanding, I’ve been in the industry for almost a decade now. And to put it bluntly, aside from the various Unstoppable Domains episode - it just seems there isn’t anything particularly notable.
Here's where I need the help of all you lovely folks….
With countless podcasts available, it's important to tailor the content to not only meet the preferences of the listeners, but hopefully provoke us all to truly reflect and appreciate how absolutely bonkers it is that we’re living through the ‘Wild West’ days of the web3 boom. Not only that but maybe even inspire the listeners to have those tough conversations with one another.
The ones that exist in the shadows, that are what brought this entire phenomenon into existence. Conversations on a wide spread, open platform - about:
• how much of our privacy we’re willing to sacrifice if it means progress?
• What that progress entails specifically; because while profit is LOVELY I think we can all agree… it’s unfortunately used synonymously with progress.
• They’re by no means mutually exclusive, but as humans involved in a capital market such as ours - blockchain advocates, developers, whatever you want to call yourselves ~ we can’t forget this is something we can build to put an end to the inefficiencies of the equity markets that led us all here to begin with.
We can act in our own self interest as our predecessors have, resulting in concentrations of wealth and power in the hands of few at the expense of the many. Or we can take a minute and remember what prompted the infamous Satoshi Nakamoto to release such a flawless ‘Plan B’ amidst the 2008 financial crisis, where collectively we either bought into or didn’t yet realize how thin the ice actually was that we’d been told to be so trusting of.
I want to hear from you, the audience, about what you would prefer to hear in these podcasts.
Firstly, be honest - I’m curious about your interest level in crypto podcasts. Do you listen to them at all? If so, would you mind sharing what examples or feedback you have that makes it favorable or unfavorable.
Additionally, I want to discuss the content featured in these podcasts. One aspect is price updates, which personally I think is a waste of breathing air and everyone’s time on this particular medium. (If you’re covering genuine altcoins flying under the radar - personally I think that’s more than favorable). But I think at this point we’re all pretty plugged in to once price feed or another items like $BTC , $ETH, $LTC, etc - the big names - we could all survive without.
Are you interested in hearing about the latest cryptocurrency prices and market trends such as speculation from the host or guests, or do you prefer a more focused discussion on other topics? Such as breaking news regarding legislation in some our hotspots?
Another consideration is the ideal duration for a podcast of this nature. Would you like a short and concise podcast that can be easily digested, or do you prefer longer episodes with in-depth discussions differing each week? IE/ How this weeks guest broke into blockchain development, or how and why the FTX collapse was so much more than a mere exchange mismanagement?
Lastly, I’d love to gauge your interest in web3 content which focuses on explaining complex blockchain concepts in layman's terms. Such as what the heck an EVM machine is, and why it’s called that! Or why we have so many new sidechains being developed such as Linea, Optimism, ZkSync, etc - and what the difference is as well as which suits your goals best.
Is this something you'd be more inclined to listen to compared to podcasts with a narrower focus on cryptocurrency assets themselves?
Please take a few moments to share your thoughts and suggestions in the comments below. We can't wait to hear from you!
If I feel I’ve gotten a good enough idea as to what I can create a few episodes out of, rest assured y'all will be the first to hear about it and I’ll gladly take all the constructive criticism I can get.
One things’ Forsure - I’m on a mission to make sure no pour soul is forced to acknowledge a reality where they’d rather listen to a podcast on US municipal bonds or some horrid investment vehicle because “at least the episode had some structure and a continuity factor”.
Man I sound so jaded in this probably but I promise it’s genuinely so I can hopefully produce some content that appeals to everyone and ideally promotes competition and growth - with the way geopolitical affairs are turning out it’s hard to make an argument against creating more attractive mediums like this. The end result in any case, even if it’s negligible, will be pushing the timeline towards mass adoption and more minds to help innovate and progress away from the legacy markets that answers/benefits only to a very small fraction of a much larger population.
- Thanks everyone,
again ANY input is appreciated, the more the better. And THERE ARE NO WRONG ANSWERS HERE! That’s the beauty of being in the ‘wild west’ phase still :-)
Xoxo,
Nico
