Introduction
After many months of development, BULB Mobile App will finally be released on 30 November 2024!
The launch of BULB Mobile App marks a significant milestone for BULB, BULBers, and the broader crypto community, as this is the first time that a truly user-centric social media platform that feels as easy to use as Web 2.0 apps, but built with all the principles of Web 3.0, is accessible to the everyday modern citizen via a mobile phone.
We have so much to go through with you all, from sharing the underlying reasons of why BULB is going mobile, to the key features of the BULB Mobile App and its future developments - we will go through all of these topics in this release.

Why BULB Is Going Mobile?

The very first day that the BULB Team was introduced to Web 3.0, we asked ourselves:
“How do I get started in crypto?”
Looking back, this simple question is actually a very perplexing question, because there are so many “first steps” that a beginner can take. It might be getting a wallet. It might also be buying some crypto via an exchange. Perhaps getting some meme-coins may also be a good idea. However, should you get a Solana wallet or Ethereum Wallet? Phantom or Solflare or Metamask? Should you use Coinbase or Binance? Is there even any difference between getting USDC or USDT?
The point is: there is no good way to get started in crypto.
Thus, frustrated by the lack of a clear and easy way for the everyday person to access the world of crypto, we took a page out of Web 2.0. At a quick glance, on every platform on the internet, there will essentially be the equivalent of “social logins” one way or another.

Moreover, creating a “wallet” to access crypto is simply too “complicated” for the average person, as all Web 3.0 Apps suffer from the “double sign-up” phenomenon, that is, the brand new user to crypto would have to first create a wallet, and THEN create the actual account for that particular Web 3.0 App.
Clearly, getting started with crypto needs to be better. “Better” in the sense that we need to solve the “double sign-up” problem and redefine the onboarding process into one single step.
At BULB, we set out to build a simple one-click onboarding process that firstly, creates a social profile backed by blockchain technology, and secondly, creates a non-custodial and decentralised wallet for the user, all in one single step. Just one single step.

Key Features Of BULB Mobile App
The BULB Mobile App is packed with many new features, but fundamentally, its core functions are exactly the same as the BULB Desktop App. However, the parts that really differentiate the BULB Mobile App and the BULB Desktop App are 1) One-Click Sign-Up, 2) One-Click Sign-In, and 3) Auto Non-Custodial Wallet Creation. Let’s take a detailed look at each of these key features.
BULB Mobile App - Sign-Up
Upon downloading the BULB Mobile App, the user will be prompted to either select
“Sign-up now” or “I am an existing BULB user”. By clicking the first option, the user will input the ordinary details of their account, such as account name, email and password, and the beauty is the this in and of itself will generate a private key that is stored inside the mobile phone, effectively turning the mobile device itself into a non-custodial hard wallet. This is an absolute game changer because the user, Web 2.0 or Web 3.0, will only need to go through the sign-up process ONCE, but they will BOTH create the BULB social media account and the BULB Wallet SIMULTANEOUSLY.
If an existing user clicks the latter button, the user will only need to import the secret recovery phrase ONCE, and their existing wallet will be AUTOMATICALLY imported to BULB Wallet along with their BULB social media account.
Finally, the “double sign-up” phenomenon is officially solved!
BULB Mobile App - Sign-In
Now, it gets much easier from here. Once a BULB Wallet is created, the user can literally click “Sign in with BULB”, and automatically sign in within milliseconds. It is so easy that you have to try it out for yourself to be convinced of how easy it is!
For Phantom Wallet fans out there, we made sure to give you the choice of doing an app-to-app call and “Sign in with Phantom”. However, the caveat is that BULB Mobile App will jump out to Phantom App, then jump back to BULB Mobile App upon approving the sign-in signature, effectively making the sign-in process to last a few seconds long. Biasedly speaking, signing in with BULB Wallet is the absolute best ;)
BULB Mobile App - Wallet
Last but not least, the BULB Wallet is everything you need to get started in the crypto ecosystem. You can receive crypto, send crypto and also, scan-to-pay and scan-to-login on BULB Desktop App. As reiterated already, BULB Wallet is a non-custodial wallet where all the crypto is stored directly on-chain, with the private key being stored directly into your mobile device. This means that BULB Wallet is uniquely both a hard wallet and soft wallet simultaneously.
With BULB Wallet, the potential of BULB is limitless and we have so much more that we can do to bring innovation and disruptive features to the broader crypto community.
Future BULB Mobile App Developments
With BULB Mobile App launched, this has opened a whole new world of possibilities for BULB, that we would have never imagined possible previously. To boil it down to three key verticals, this is what the future of BULB Mobile App looks like.
#1 Achieving Feature Parity Versus BULB Desktop App
Currently, due to app store release limitations, only ~70% of the features on BULB Desktop App will be available on the BULB Mobile App. Hence, in the coming months, we will continuously update the app and roll out more features so that the mobile experience would be equivalent to the desktop experience.
We believe that bringing more crypto features to the BULB Mobile App is the key to popularising Web 3.0, and thus, our priority will continue to be pushing Web 3.0 features with a Web 2.0 user experience ethos, so that anyone from anywhere can easily access BULB.
#2 Adding DeFi Features To BULB Mobile App
The BULB Wallet is a massive step forward for the entire BULB ecosystem, as any new user would now have a BULB Wallet by default by virtue of signing up. Hence, going forward, we will leverage this channel to bring more DeFi features in a super user-friendly way to our users, including one-click staking, buying crypto with fiat such as debt and credit cards, swapping crypto-to-crypto and more.
At BULB, we are extremely committed to make things ultra-simple for all users, whether they are crypto native or not.
#3 BULB Ecosystem To Real World Commercialisation
Extending our vision for BULB as a social media platform, we believe that there is a real possibility that one day, BULB will be the largest Web 3.0 social media platform, with billions of users and with millions of merchants, big or small, doing business on BULB. Crazy idea, but just imagine if merchants sign-up to BULB, promote on BULB, reward in $BULB and pay with $BULB.
