Mauro Icardi stint at Paris Saint-Germain during the 2019-2020 season proved to be highly successful. Joining the club on a one-season loan deal with an option to buy, Icardi quickly made an impact on the pitch.
He made his debut for PSG in September 2019, coming off the bench in a 1-0 victory against Strasbourg. He followed this up with his first goal in Ligue 1 in a match against Angers on October 5th.

Icardi's contributions played a crucial role as PSG clinched the Ligue 1 title, with the season being called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, PSG went on to win the Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue during the resumed season in the summer.

Unfortunately, his season was soon interrupted by an injury to the internal ligament of his knee, which was announced by PSG manager Thomas Tuchel in October 2020. Despite this setback, Icardi returned to play in November but suffered another setback before the match against Manchester United, extending his time on the sidelines.
It wasn't until January 2021 that Icardi made his full return, coming off the bench to score a goal and assist another in a 3-0 win against Brest. He continued his impactful return by scoring a goal and winning a penalty in the Trophée des Champions match against Marseille, which PSG won 2-1.In May, Icardi opened the scoring for PSG in their 2-0 victory over Monaco in the Coupe de France Final, contributing to the club's success in the competition.
During the 2021-2022 season, Icardi managed to score his first goal of the campaign in a league win over Troyes and later scored the winning goal in stoppage time against Lyon. However, his overall goal tally for the season across all competitions was only five, marking his lowest tally since his debut season at Sampdoria.
Despite the challenges and relatively low goal output, Icardi's contributions played a part in PSG's performances throughout the season.

Despite not participating in any games for PSG at the start of the season, Icardi was named in the squad for the Trophée des Champions match against Nantes. However, he was subsequently left out of PSG Champions League squad for the season by coach Galtier. This led to his one-year loan move to Galatasaray on 8 September 2022.
Icardi made his official debut for Galatasaray on 16 September 2022, coming off the bench in a 2–1 win against Konyaspor. He quickly made his mark with the team, demonstrating his goal-scoring prowess and playmaking abilities.
One of his standout performances came against Alanyaspor on 23 October, where he scored his first league goal for Galatasaray and provided a crucial assist to Dries Mertens, helping them secure a draw. He continued to impress with another stellar performance in a 7–0 victory over İstanbul Başakşehir, contributing one goal and two assists.
Despite sustaining a minor injury towards the end of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Icardi made a remarkable comeback and quickly became a fan favorite with his passionate and determined displays on the field. His connection with the supporters was further solidified when the song Aşkın Olayım dedicated to him was played during a match against Antalyaspor.
On 14 April 2023, Icardi delivered a stellar performance by scoring a hat-trick and providing an assist in a 6–0 win over Kayserispor. His contributions were crucial in helping Galatasaray secure the Süper Lig title with a 4–1 away victory against Ankaragücü on 30 May, where he scored a brace. He continued his impressive form by scoring in Galatasaray's reverse fixture against Fenerbahçe on 4 June, maintaining his record of scoring in all the derby games he played in for his side.
By the end of the league campaign, Icardi had amassed an impressive tally of 22 goals and 7 assists, cementing his status as one of the key players for Galatasaray and leaving a lasting impact on the Süper Lig season.
Mauro Icardi's permanent transfer to Galatasaray in the summer of 2023 marked a significant milestone in his career, as he continued to excel for the Turkish club.
Upon his arrival in Istanbul on 28 July 2023, Galatasaray officially announced that Icardi had joined the club permanently. Two days later, on 30 July, he signed a three-year contract with the club, solidifying his commitment to Galatasaray. The terms of the agreement included a salary of 6 million per year for Icardi, with a transfer fee of 10 million paid to Paris Saint-Germain.
Icardi wasted no time in making an impact for Galatasaray in the 2023-2024 season. On 23 August, he reached a career milestone by scoring his 200th goal in 375 matches during his club career, in a 3–2 away win against Molde in the Champions League play-off round game.
One of his standout performances came on 3 October, when he scored the winning goal against Manchester United in a historic 3–2 victory at Old Trafford in the Champions League group stage. This victory marked Galatasaray's first-ever win against an English side in an away match in history, with Icardi playing a crucial role in the achievement.
Continuing his impressive form, Icardi surpassed Galatasaray legend Gheorghe Hagi on 21 October by scoring his 10th goal in derbies with a Galatasaray jersey, becoming the foreign player with the most goals in derbies for the club. Just three days later, on 24 October, he showcased his skill and composure by scoring a brilliant Panenka penalty against Bayern Munich in a Champions League group stage game, despite Galatasaray ultimately losing 1–3 at home.
These performances highlighted Icardi's importance to Galatasaray and solidified his status as a key player for the club in both domestic and European competitions.
