Summary of The Lord of the Rings
The "Lord of the Rings" is a three-volume epic fantasy series written by J.R.R. Tolkien. The story takes place in an imaginary world called Middle-earth and includes many interconnected characters and events.
The story begins with Frodo Baggins living in a hobbit village called the Shire. Frodo inherits a mysterious ring, the Lord of the Rings, from an old relative, Bilbo Baggins. This ring has great power that can plunge Middle-earth into darkness. If the Ring is found and captured by Sauron, it will pose a threat to all free peoples. For this reason, Frodo decides to set out on a dangerous journey to destroy the Ring.
Frodo starts his journey with his loyal friends Sam, Merry and Pippin. They then form a group called the Fellowship of the Ring. Legolas the elf, Gimli the dwarf, Aragorn the man and Gandalf the wizard join the Fellowship of the Ring. Their goal is to destroy the Ring at the Orodruin Volcano in Sauron's country called Mordor. During this arduous journey, the characters encounter many dangers and enemies.
As the Fellowship of the Ring passes through an ancient dwarven city called Moria, Gandalf encounters a demon called the Balrog and falls to his death in the abyss. With this great loss, Aragorn assumes leadership and leads the group safely to the forest of Lothlórien. Here they meet the elven queen Galadriel and undergo a trial in which each character faces his or her own challenges. Merry and Pippin are kidnapped by the Forest Fairies, while Frodo and Sam continue their journey.
On the other hand, Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli set out to help a kingdom called Rohan. Rohan has been attacked by the dark forces of Sauron. A wizard named Saruman has taken over the mind of King Theoden of Rohan, forcing him to serve evil. Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli rescue Theoden and unite Rohan to fight against an army of orcs. In this battle, the Rohan warriors, called Rohirrim, win a great victory.
Meanwhile, Frodo and Sam march towards Mordor, pursued by a creature called Gollum. Gollum is the former owner of the ring and wants to possess it again. Frodo and Sam have to be wary of Gollum's treachery, but they also have to contend with Sauron's armies and the dangerous terrain.
In the end, the Fellowship of the Ring disintegrates and each character moves forward on his or her own path. Frodo and Sam reach the heart of Mordor and reach the Volcano of Orodruin. But as they take the final step to destroy the ring, Frodo loses his strength from exhaustion and the ring's influence. As Gollum attacks Frodo to get the ring, he falls and breaks the ring and his finger. With the destruction of the ring, Sauron's power is completely destroyed.
Meanwhile, Aragorn fights to regain the throne of another kingdom called Gondor. Gondor is under attack by the forces of Sauron and a great battle has begun. Aragorn, with his elf and dwarf helpers, defends Gondor and defeats Sauron's armies. In this battle, many characters show courage and discover their own strength.
In the end, Frodo and Sam survive great danger and escape from Mordor. Other characters also return safely and receive news about the outcome of the War of the Ring. Peace is restored in Middle-earth and the heroism of the characters is recognized throughout the story.
