The Tale of Hansel and Gretel
Once upon a time, there lived a woodcutter and his two brothers on the edge of a large forest. The names of these two siblings are Hansel and Gretel. Their mother died when they were babies and their father remarried. But unfortunately, their new stepmother didn't like Hansel and Gretel very much.
One day, the stepmother thought of a way to get rid of her children. They told their father, "These children are a burden to us, we need to take them away." said. Hansel heard his stepmother's plan and realized what he had to do. He immediately went out and filled his pockets with pebbles.
The next day, their father and stepmother wanted to take Hansel and Gretel deep into the forest and abandon them. However, Hansel marked the path they followed with pebbles in his pockets. That way, they didn't lose track to get back home.
Their father was very happy when he saw his children. Although he actually wanted to leave them, he now regrets it. But their stepmother was angry about this situation.
When their stepmother locked the door the next night, Hansel couldn't pick up any pebbles. Instead, he crumbled the bread and sprinkled it in the direction they were traveling on the road. However, the birds ate the bread and lost their way back.
Their father and stepmother said "we will return" again, but they disappeared again. Hansel and Gretel were left hungry and helpless in the forest for several days. But while they were in despair, they came across a house made of chocolate and cookies. Of course they tasted it right away!
At that moment, an old woman came out of the door of the house. She invited them in and gave them plenty of food. The house looked scary from the outside, but inside it was warm and beautiful. Also, there was a lot of gold hidden at the back of the house.
However, the old woman was actually a witch and her intention was to eat Hansel and Gretel. She locked Hansel in a cage to prevent him from gaining weight. She also asked Gretel to bring food to Hansel.
Hansel poured the food he bought into the space in the cage and did not gain weight. After a while, the witch realized the situation and wanted to eat Hansel. But Gretel made a plan. She called the witch to check the oven and took the opportunity to lock the witch in the oven.
Thus, Hansel was saved and the two of them ran away with the witch's gold. They ran as fast as they got away from home, and when they returned home, they found their father crying in front of the door.
Their father could not express how happy he was to see his children. Moreover, he was even happier when he learned that their stepmother was gone. Hansel and Gretel told their father what they had experienced and gave them the witch's gold.
Now the woodcutter and his children became rich and they all lived happily and joyfully together.
