One Pillar Pagoda, also known officially as Dien Huu Pagoda, is one of the famous religious works in Vietnam, especially in the capital Hanoi. The pagoda is located in Ba Dinh district, in the middle of a large campus, creating a sacred and reassuring space
The construction history of One Pillar Pagoda originated during the reign of King Ly Thai Tong, in the early 11th century. According to legend, on the first day of the second lunar month, in 1049, King Ly Thai Tong received a mysterious dream in which Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva gave a child to the king. But because the king had no prince, he decided to build a pagoda named Dien Huu (lunar month of February) and dedicate it to Bodhisattva..
