Robert Patrick

Robert Hammond Patrick, born on November 5, 1958, is an accomplished American actor known for his versatility in portraying both villains and authority figures. He has earned a Saturn Award and received nominations for four others throughout his career.
Patrick's journey into acting began when he dropped out of college after discovering his passion for the craft in a drama class. He made his film debut in 1986 and gained recognition for his supporting role in "Die Hard 2" (1990). However, it was his portrayal of the formidable T-1000 in "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" (1991) that catapulted him to stardom. He reprised this iconic role in cameo appearances in "Wayne's World" (1992) and "Last Action Hero" (1993).

Throughout his career, Patrick has appeared in a wide range of films, including "Fire in the Sky" (1993), "Striptease" (1996), "Cop Land" (1997), "The Faculty" (1998), "Spy Kids" (2001), "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" (2003), "Ladder 49" (2004), "Walk the Line" (2005), "Flags of Our Fathers" (2006), "We Are Marshall" (2006), "Bridge to Terabithia" (2007), "The Men Who Stare at Goats" (2009), and "Safe House" (2012).

In television, Patrick has delivered notable performances, including portraying FBI Special Agent John Doggett in "The X-Files," Colonel Tom Ryan in "The Unit," DHS agent Cabe Gallo in "Scorpion," and Auggie Smith / White Dragon in "Peacemaker." He has also had recurring roles in series such as "1923," "The Outer Limits," "The Sopranos," "Elvis," "Burn Notice," "Last Resort," "Sons of Anarchy," its spin-off "Mayans M.C.," "Jamie Hawkins in The Night Agent," and "From Dusk till Dawn: The Series."

Tracie Cooper of AllMovie praised Patrick's "solid reputation within the industry," noting his commendable "work ethic, personality, and consistent performances" by the conclusion of "The X-Files" in 2002. Actor and director Jason Bateman hailed Patrick as "one of the great heavies," recognizing his talent and impact in the entertainment world.

Robert Hammond Patrick was born on November 5, 1958, in Marietta, Georgia, and spent his formative years in various locations including Boston, Massachusetts, Dayton, Ohio, Detroit, Michigan, and Bay Village, Ohio. He is the eldest of five children born to Nadine and Robert M. Patrick.
Interestingly, Patrick did not initially aspire to pursue a career in acting. During his childhood, he harbored a dislike for performing, as evidenced by an incident in third grade where he refused to wear green tights for a role in "Peter Pan." He graduated from Farmington High School in Farmington, Michigan, in 1977, where he also excelled as a track and field and football athlete. Patrick then attended Bowling Green State University, where he participated in athletics, but ultimately dropped out before graduating upon discovering his passion for drama and acting.

Following his departure from college, Patrick worked as a house painter until a significant boating accident occurred in Lake Erie in 1984. Despite the risks, he bravely swam for three hours to save others stranded at the accident site, nearly drowning in the process. This life-changing event prompted him to reassess his priorities, leading him to pursue a career in acting. At the age of 26, Patrick made the bold decision to relocate to Los Angeles, where he would ultimately find success in the entertainment industry.

Prior to his acting career, he worked as a house painter, but a near-death experience in a boating accident prompted him to reassess his life goals.

Patrick's acting career began with appearances in low-budget science-fiction and action films produced by Roger Corman and shot in the Philippines. These early roles helped him earn his Screen Actors Guild (SAG) card and provided valuable experience in the industry. His breakthrough came with a supporting role in the blockbuster film "Die Hard 2" (1990), followed by his iconic portrayal of the T-1000 in James Cameron's "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" (1991).
Following the success of "Terminator 2," Patrick went on to star in a variety of feature films, including "Last Action Hero" (1993), "Fire in the Sky" (1993), and "Striptease" (1996).
