The first step is keyword research. You need to identify low competition keywords that people search for when looking for a specific tool.
I use tools like Ahrefs and UberSuggest to generate keyword ideas in my niche. You can also use Google Keyword Planner.
For example, let’s say we want an SEO tool. Search for “SEO tool” to find relevant keywords like:

Look for more specific, low competition keywords that are easier to rank for. Avoid super generic terms like “SEO software”.

Follow these steps to create an SEO-optimized, monetized GPT:

1. Add Your Target Keyword to the GPT Name & Description

This helps Google understand what your tool is about. Include the keyword naturally in the name and description.
For our example, we’ll create an “SEO Project Management Tool”.

2. Craft Detailed Instructions Relevant to the Keyword

The instructions should help users accomplish what they searched for.
To generate instructions, use ChatGPT itself! For our SEO tool, I prompted it to give me detailed steps for managing a website’s SEO project.
Then I pasted those steps into the GPT’s instructions field. Now it perfectly solves the user’s query.

3. Monetize with Affiliate Links & Calls-to-Action

You can monetize your GPT by sending traffic to your sales funnels, affiliate offers, booking pages, etc.
I programmed my GPT’s responses to include relevant affiliate links and calls-to-action like “Click here to learn about my #1 SEO tool”.
The key is keeping it natural — you’re providing value and recommendations, not blatant ads.

4. Publish Your GPT and Rank it on Google

Once you publish your GPT, it will start accumulating organic users over time as it ranks on Google.
You can speed up indexing by submitting your GPT URL to services like IndexNow.ai.
Then monitor traffic and make updates to improve it. The more users, the more potential income!
