MULTI PURPOSE PALM TREE
Palm tree is a common name of perennial lianas, shrubs, and trees. They are the only members of the family Arecaceae, which is the only family in the order Arecales.
They grow in hot climates.
They usually have different sizes in terms of the trunk and different height as well.
The ones with the big trunk are usually short while the small trunk are usually tall .
THE USES OF THE PALM TREE
The palm tree is a tree that is so economical in all ramification that, it is nick named the gift in the area where I come from. Everything concerning the tree is useful.
Let's have some of the uses of the palm tree.
1. PRODUCTION OF OIL
The seed which the tree produce is used for the production of oil .
The oil is called palm oil which is highly consumed in my area .The oil derived from it is used to prepare local delicacies .
2. PRODUCTION OF OIL (MAYANGA)
After the fruit has been used to produce edible oil, the the nut in the fruit will be broken and then the stuff which is found in it will then be used to produce another type of oil which is assumed to have some healing properties and it is black in colour.
In my dialect, it is called elu-aki and in Pidgin English MAYANGA.
3. PRODUCTION OF BROOM.
The leaves of the tree which is called the palm front is also very useful. It is used to produce brooms, which are used to sweep the house and the surroundings .
It's also use to produce cobweb remover in the house and many other things.
4. The palm tree is also used for the production of wine, the wine gotten from the tree is called , palm wine. The wine comes out with only one colour and that is white. It's naturally sweet and alcoholic too.
There are people who are specialised in the act of producing the wine, they are usually called the palm wine taper in my area.
5. PRODUCTION OF FIREWOOD
When the tree must have exceeded it's years of usefulness, the tree will be fallen down and the trunk will be used for fireword .
