Zico: The Brazilian Magician
Arthur Antunes Coimbra, better known as Zico, is one of the greatest footballers of all time. He was a creative playmaker with excellent technical skills, vision, and an eye for goal. He is considered one of the most clinical finishers and best passers ever, as well as one of the greatest players of all time.
Zico was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1953. He started playing football at a young age and quickly showed his talent. He joined Flamengo's youth team at the age of 14 and made his professional debut in 1971. Zico quickly became one of the best players in Brazil and helped Flamengo win the Campeonato Carioca in 1972, 1974, and 1978.
In 1976, Zico moved to Italy to play for Udinese. He had a successful season with Udinese, scoring 15 goals in 24 appearances. However, he was unhappy in Italy and returned to Brazil in 1977 to play for Flamengo again.
Zico remained with Flamengo until 1983, when he moved to Japan to play for Kashima Antlers. He had a phenomenal career with Kashima Antlers, winning the J League in 1987 and 1990, the Emperor's Cup in 1987, 1990, and 1992, and the Asian Club Championship in 1987.
Zico also had a successful international career with Brazil. He made his debut for the national team in 1976 and went on to win the 1979 Copa America and the 1983 FIFA Confederations Cup. He was also a key member of the Brazilian team that reached the final of the 1982 FIFA World Cup.
Zico retired from playing in 1994. He then went on to have a successful career as a manager. He has managed a number of clubs in Brazil, Japan, and the United Arab Emirates.
